Uh-oh! Han was only frozen in carbonite because Vader wanted to test the process to ensure it wouldn't kill Luke. Jabba treated Han as a dinky palace ornament. It was never portrayed as a widespread practice. This reeks of a misplaced obsession with unimportant secondary details.

I watched SW: A New Hope with my 10 year old twin daughters today. As soon as Leia takes charge and saves everyone in the detention block one of them yelled out ‘women are awesome!’ So much for the theory that the OT lacked strong female characters and only appealed to boys.
