On Friday, I had the honor of holding the first rifle that Marvin Wotring made for the Mountaineer as it was auctioned off for charity. Marvin’s final gift to West Virginia sold for $125,000. Being the last Mountaineer he worked with, it is so amazing to see his legacy live on.

After some school visits back home, I got to hang out with Evan. Back in the fall he was diagnosed with lymphoma, and is still going through treatment. I had the pleasure of dropping off some signed WVU gear to him. Huge thanks to @NealBrown_WVU for helping make this possible!

Earlier this week, the Mountaineer Family lost our most dedicated supporter. Marvin Wotring, “the man behind the musket”, was a mentor and friend to every Mountaineer Mascot since he crafted his first Mountaineer rifle in the late 1970s.
