You can make ANY island spider island if you do the following:
- chop all trees and remove stumps
- pick all flowers (pick, not uproot)
- remove all rocks
- night time only (past 7 worked for me)
- dump resources on beach
- clear island of all bugs
= spiders spawn
We made a game with 151 unique fish, all designed by 1 concept artist.
Not a single one has any resemblance to a pokemon.
The fact that Palworld has similarities isn't due to some lack of creativity, but entirely due to intent to stir controversy and marketing.
I went through the entire 111 list of Pals in Palworld to see what seems like a Pokémon rip off compared to not, because I’ve seen a lot of people talk about it but no full comprehensive list. Here’s what I found (it’s a lot) 🧵
This entire thread pains me.
An animation is not transferable from model to model if the rig is any way different. You can’t copy paste an animation like that.
Even 1 polygon of difference on a mesh requires redoing the rigs weight distribution, so stop nitpicking
SHEESH
I don't know how best to say this, but this kind of work by game communities is absolutely invaluable to the progress and growth of the industry.
It'll make young game designers and I absolutely adore it
Mario Builder 64 has been released. Much time and effort was poured into this project and I couldn't be happier to share it with all of you. Have fun! 😁
Ai gen video and images are capitalisms response to their inability to lower artist cost further. So they relegate to illegally collecting work to produce more at basically no cost.
It serves no purpose but to cheat the public and steal from artists.
Fight it
Also tip: you don’t need to rush spiders, when they stand, wait while holding A and when the relax/drop you can approach closer, they stand again, wait again and then approach more
So 👏
Did further testing of the frame based pipeline. And it works perfectly with rigged models animated in maya no problemo! nearly plug and play :D
I have one last fairly complex animation to do and then i'll consider this whole style 100% usable going forward ^_^
People complaining about Pokémon excluding a national dex really bugs me because they’ll be looking at the game with the intention to lessen it’s worth and invalidating all work out into it
And for the record. The fact that they could recreate an older animation and improves on its quirks is just solid art direction and animation work.
The world of Pokémon has its own expressions and mannerisms. Making a new animation to express the same thing can take away from it
Tomorrow
@MoonglowBay
comes out. Our debut game. One of the biggest milestones of my career.
I freelanced for roughly 6 years before starting Moonglow and at the time it was my dream to start a studio that would focus on voxel art. And now our first game is coming out ✨
So, I re-rendered my scene and am blown away with how much of a better output i got. Now mad that it's already gone viral. Too little too late T^T
Left = Before, Right = After
here's the chainsaw dog first pass idle animation.
gonna need some improvements for sure, but it's a good start.
sadly the feet only plant on-play (game) so it's a little tricky knowing if the results are any good haha
BREAKING NEWS: Say goodbye to comfort breaks! New downward-tilting toilets are designed to become unbearable to sit on after five minutes. They say the main benefit is to employees in improved employee productivity.
@GameMakerMeier
It comes across as malicious to many due to the studios past of copying other nintendo games and never delivering on a complete product, like Craftopia.
Now they've upped their level of copying (now down to the art) and it's become deeply worrying
Here's a thing for a thing 👀
When i think of Tetris this is straight up what comes to my mind, and i'm pleased i was able to make it exactly as i see it
Genuinely, the best part of Cube World is THE MAP
The most enjoyable map to navigate. The perfect use of voxels and LOD
The urban designer and game designer in me adores it
