Had someone enter DDR at Storm who had NEVER played DDR (or any dance game) in their life. After Wave 1, even though he couldn't pass anything, he said he had so much fun getting to compete.
We live for these moments. 😭
It’s been a grueling couple of weeks but I am overall in a great spot in the personal/work life.
The biggest positive in recent weeks was getting engaged to absolutely amazing
@MeecheezInk
Taking a step back today to reflect, internalize, and move forward.
So uh, CEO Storm 2023 anyone? Interest check so please interact in some way if you EVEN THINK you might attend that if it were to hypothetically happen.
DDR, PIU, ITG, and SMX are the goals
That's all for now!
The
@CEOGaming
Championship belts for 2024 are now in production with our friends at
@ProAmBelts
!
This year all official games listed on will receive one including the Project Storm Dance Game Lineup and
@ProBrawlhalla
singles & doubles!
Good luck!
What's a major non-rhythm game interest/hobby you have? A few of mine are general gaming + sweaty FPS when I feel like it, choir/singing (6 years through middle school/high school), and being a huge PC tech geek for comparison/benchmarking.
Thank you everyone who made this not only the best Storms of my life, but one of the best events I've been to in my life. Love you all! None of this would be possible without you, the community.
Entering a lower division and with intentions to win it simply because you wouldn't be at the top (but would still generally do well) in your real division is one of my biggest competitor peeves.
Observational thought from glancing DDR twitter: Those who think Chris just breezes through stuff or makes his way through things at a “fast pace” truly have no idea at the amount of time put in “off” the pads nor the full extent of grinding to the “score post” pic.
On dance games (or anything competitive): Once you see someone play exceptionally and you shift the mentality to, "They're so good at this game and I want to be that good" without any doubts that's when the true mental gains happen and you're officially a competitive player.
It was an honor to host
#ProjectStorm
again as part of
#CEO2024
in its last year at the Ocean Center. Thank you everyone for the continued support. We hope to see you again next year at the Rosen!!!
Have fun tonight, and please get home safely everyone.
Until...December?
Awwww snap the pads are set up 👀
Gonna need to figure out how to raise/mod PIU panels/sensitivity and whatever nuances go with that compared to 4-panel
Project Storm 2024 is officially June 28-30, 2024! SMX/Women's, PIU Phoenix/Women's, ITG (SM5 Tech), and DDR A20PLUS.
S/o to
@naylolz
and
@emcatcosplay
as always.
Interest checks coming soon for Freestyle/DRS community events.
No plans for Extreme Pro w/Storm machine lineup.
Chance is too cracked to not be known as a modern day tech GOAT. Here's a preview of something he can just casually do within 15 minutes of starting a set. PUSHING THE UPPER BOUNDARIES OF TECH!!!
Reminder for everyone competing at Upbeat - It's a mile high elevation, so if you're not elevation training or getting there at least a few days early you WILL be at a severe disadvantage.
Over the weekend at HolMat I asked about
@JWonggg
's rhythm game history since he has a big past with CtF. Apparently he was insane at DDR too!!! Maaan, that woulda have been an insane timeline if he stuck with playing ☠️
Rhythm game TOs essentially spend hundreds of hours volunteering their time to make events happen each year, and fully know they’re going to be operating at a loss. I don’t speak for all TOs, but the Storm experience is about the community it stands for above all.
Since Storm I have:
- Lost 25 lbs
- Continued to care for my feet regularly and have not had a PF flare up last more than a day
- Almost exclusively wear insoles in everything
- Have played DDR 5/7 days for the first time in over a year since my foot issues started
Honing in on "your" type of competitive is probably the most beneficial for overall player growth (IMO).
Ex: Ever since I changed my tournament play mindset from winning or beating specific people to "putting on a show" for spectators that took so much competitive anxiety off.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who attended the DDR Storm portion (as well as all attendees) of
#CEO2018
This community keeps showing me that it’s worth fighting to keep alive and try to grow. It was truly an honor to host this for you all. Until next year.
If you play dance games primarily for h2h competition as opposed to online competition, actively "going for lamps" other than the clear/life4 ones is a very dangerous path for overall growth.
Reminder: Your dance game efforts are not wasted on whatever grind you're on, whether it be the frustrating one for a folder lamp on DDR, or even just getting "generally" better. The only time you hinder yourself is when the games generally become "unfun" to play.
3-0 in my pool and on to top 8! May not be a surprise to anyone but I've been wanting a top 8 finish again in SM5 tech/ITG for a VERY long time since coming back from my 2016-2019 hiatus.
Everything from here on out is to just put on a show 😎 Let's get it!
Between being within throwing distance of some of my biggest lifelong competitive ITG "tournament" rivals and placing top 4 twice in a row, I think it's time to train like I'm trying to win the whole thing.
2024 VivaLaMoo gonna be more DDR/PIU/SMX focused. I was getting in my head with a very severe case of "imposter syndrome" being out of DDR practice.
2023 was an insane ITG year for me and I don't want to lose the gains, so will be going into "maintain" mode after ITL SJ.
10 year anniversary of AAAing Extreme
I remember I specifically waited until April 2nd because I knew people wouldn't believe me if I did it and posted on April 1st LOL
Confession: I only really play DDR so I can shit talk with my friends or have something to talk about with people. Otherwise I think it’s by far the worst of the modern age dance games and have 0 urge to actively “get better” at it or go out of my way to learn charts.
Best event in a VERY long time god DAMN. Shoutouts to everyone involved (in the background, foreground, competitors, etc.). This truly was something special and I hope it becomes more regular in the future.
