6 months ago I had no internship.
6 months ago I was earning x.
6 months ago I haven't contributed much to Open Source.
6 months ago I don't have much valuable connections.
6 months ago I was not confident.
a lot can happen in just 6 months.
be consistent, always upgrade!
Being from a tier-3 college, the common issues I faced
- lack of mentorship from seniors.
- Bullshit placements.
- lack of opportunities to explore.
- lack of friends circle for hackathons or tech related competitions.
But trust me!
BUILDING and NETWORKING >>> any tier college
Tip for GSoC'25 students :
- Aim only for 2 Orgs, which are actively participating in GSoC for > 4 years.
- Engage within the community.
- Make short contributions.
- Attend community weekly calls. (if your chosen orgs have)
Additional tip :
CONTRIBUTE. CONTRIBUTE. CONTRIBUTE.
Wins from my third tier college :
- done freelancing in first year ( earned above $1500 )
- done two internships in 2nd year with an startup
- currently working on GSoC
- made amazing connections with developers, engineers and tech YouTubers.
- 1.8k in linkedIn and 300+ in X
Some of my wins in college:
- 2x GSoC (in my favorite orgs)
- built many cool connections (senior engineers, researchers, millionaires)
- Ran a profitable business (₹1lac+ pm) in 2nd yr
- Stable freelancing income
- Retired my parents
- 4k+ followers on X (y'all are awesome!)
Super happy today 😀
Excited to share that my project "Intouch" has received a grant approval of $2000 from

These days, I'm facing a dilemma in choosing my career path:
1) Campus placements – Not great from a Tier 3 college, though all my friends are into it
2) Dive deep into the
#Web3
ecosystem (I’m new but passionate) and aim for a job in early 2025
What should I focus on?
GSoC ❌
Open Source ✅
I get many DM's saying how can I crack GSoC with Open Source, well thing with us is "expectations"
GSoC only plays a part to empower open source culture
It's about helping to build real software and not about money
How to get a job through open source?
- Always NEVER expect a JOB in return
- pick issues that are important and complex ones
- make contributions in good quality code ( comments, formatting, naming, screenshots )
- Engage with the community
- Be humble and kind

Thank you
@Param_eth
, I bookmarked your tweet and right after two months I had it in my wallets ;)
Target till 2025🎯
- Dive into Solana ecosystem (Learning Rust too).
- Do DSA and take on campus placements (seriously)
- Release MVP of "InTouch" & build projects
- Crack atleast one Remote Job offer
These 99 days would be gonna HARD for me, but will try to keep consistency.
Had an amazing conversation with
@Rosie_at_Pieces
- We talked about
@getpieces
various work flows
- Explored the Live Context section in
@getpieces
- Discussed on how Devrel actually works
looking forward to more such chit chat sessions.
Today was super productive ✨
- Worked on
@InTouchchatapp
- Reviewed some concepts of Rust.
- Chatted with a co-founder, meeting set for Saturday!
- Made progress on my college major project.
I wish I had more holidays!
Skipping college makes me way more productive ;)
Made a small project for the Solana Hackathon!
