She added "'I am not a person of color. I’m not a citizen of a tribe. Tribal citizenship is very different from ancestry. Tribes, and only tribes, determine tribal citizenship and I respect that difference.

Writing a book is, for me, like creating a good album. I need a hook to get into the groove for each chapter. Those chapters are crafted to stand alone and feel complete. Then I arrange, cull, and add chapters so that they collectively tell a story that is more than its parts.
