Yesterday, there were ZERO wildfires reported to Utah's interagency dispatch centers. This marks the first day Utah has not had at least one new ignition SINCE APRIL 17TH.
Night crews on the

reported minimal overnight for behavior. No accurate mapping yet, but ground truthing reports the acreage close to 1,500 acres. The Northern Utah Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed command of the fire. Currently 120 personnel on scene.
New Fire Correction: The

is the correct name of the fire burning in Parley’s Canyon. The Northern Utah Type 3 team has been ordered. The fire is growing rapidly. An approx. 2,000 structures and power lines are being threatened.

Investigators determined that the

originated at the Orem Police Gun Range & was caused by target shooting. The Orem Police Officer present when the fire started is cooperating with officials. The investigation is on-going; more info will be shared when it's available.

UNBELIEVABLE. Bountiful resident finds abandoned campfire burning at the exact location where a similar abandoned fire ended up burning homes and forcing evacuations last year. Campfires in this area are illegal and very dangerous!
REMEMBER: Just because it didn't make the news, doesn't mean it didn't happen. This past weekend, Utah wildland fire agencies responded to 26 wildfire starts. Initial attack was effective in keeping fires small, but crews did stay very busy.

The cause was officially announced as "undermined". Despite a thorough investigation, no conclusive evidence was found. Earlier reports of it being human caused were inaccurate.
Red Flag Warning weather conditions are expected today. It will be very hot (100 degrees), windy (25 with gusts 35 mph), and dry (RH down to 5%)! Besides protection of homes and communities we are also trying to protect habitat for wildlife such as these guys.
