Itadori the boy who cursed himself and Megumi the boy who was born cursed
What is Megumi's role in the story?
Here's a very simple thread explaining why I’m confident Itadori will die, Megumi will survive, and why it will make for a beautiful ending.
Isayama is such a freak of nature man
I’m doing some research into the start of some Mangaka’s careers and every single one of them failed a few story’s before they finally got a successful serialisation at an older age
AOT being his first story at 19 is nuts
This is getting stupid now🤦
Not all friendships fall into the found family trope
They felt like normal school friends that cared for each other and the fact that it could never develop into something more just goes to show the tragic situation these kids are put into.
Megumi’s role in the story is simple, to be saved.
I’d even go as far as saying there’s a decent chance he won’t do anything major in the final fight physically.
No complete domain expansion, no ten shadows and no Mahoraga.
And that’s perfectly fine
Comment section showing that they lack media literacy
“They turned him into a loser” like that isn’t the point. A arrogant kid tried to play god and got humbled.
Great conclusion to a great character
I’m not saying that there’s a 0% chance he’ll get a power up but I’m making the point that if he doesn’t it would remain perfectly in line with the story.
His role in the story to be saved, on many levels, is far more important to the narrative
People won’t like it but Megumi getting to live a normal life brings his character arc full circle in the same way that it would if he magically became as strong as Gojo
People want the latter due to a lack of understanding as to why Megumi has never reached his potential.
Megumi's struggle lies in this constant willingness to throw everything away, AKA not valuing himself
However when put in a situation where he can’t throw anything away what type of resolution will he come up with?
Once again his awakening isn’t about this insane power up that people want him to have.
It's an internal salvation that will result from him finally realizing his own self-worth and Tsumiki being dead, meaning he no longer has anything to protect, makes it even more obvious.
I tried to make this very simple so I left out a lot of thoughts I have about how the Merger/Yuki/Gojo and Nobara tie into this.
Might do something in the future on it.
If you read this far I hope you enjoyed
Also we know his name translates to blessing and Geges clearly done this with the idea that it’s the opposite to cursed
He’ll be free from his curse and live a long happy life, the one that Toji, Gojo and Nanami wanted him to have.
That’s the conclusion I imagine for him.
He will abandon his despair and find value in his own life (his journey, his connections, his struggles etc) and will reach a state of Nirvana.
I think this is where Shoko telling him about his dad will come in as it will bring him to a closer understanding of himself
However, in order to do this he will need a huge push.
A push that weakens Sukuna, a push that encapsulates the sacrifices of every jujutsu sorcerer and a push that comes from a person he cares for
Yuji Itadori
Megumi is a victim to the three main problems in the jujutsu world
The structure of jujutsu society - clans, his father etc
Curses - His Sister being cursed + forced to fight curses his whole life (and a lot of other situations)
Jujutsu history - Kenjaku and Sukuna
This plays into the idea of strength in the JJK verse which I won’t dive too deep into
Abandoning all else in pursuit of individuality = strength in the JJK world
Megumi will abandon all his weaknesses and he will become stronger but not in the conventional way people want
I think this will be the series final message and if done well will be a beautiful movie ending.
Living for oneself whilst simultaneously embracing a purpose grander than one's own existence.
Something that Sukuna, the antagonist, never did
I’d say wether this results in him becoming stronger physically or not is 50/50
However, the point I’m making is that it doesn’t really matter as his role as a person who needs saving both on an individual level and in the grand scheme is far more important to the story.
I actually can’t believe people in the qrts are calling season 2 a bad adaptation just because they changed one comedic moment into a more serious one💀
Anime fans are genuinely some of the most ungrateful people out there
Gojos ideology of having faith in the next generation isn’t exclusive to them becoming stronger than him
He truly wanted them to live a normal life.
Yuji being the one to live over Megumi wouldn’t work not only from the perspective of the events of the current story but also-
that he’s not a true representative of the cruelty in the jujutsu world
He actively chose to walk head first into all of this, he’s had moments of doubts, but it’s a path he’s always walked into willingly
Megumi on the other hand was born into it with his salvation being Gojo
Itadori who carries the will of sorcerers like Nanami will be the one to save Megumi.
There’s a level of sincerity to himself I don’t think Yuji has found yet but I do think this realisation will come in saving Megumi.
I think that final Yuji & Megumi moment will be unreal
I think Gege has made it clear by now that Megumis serves as the prize in this final battle.
Whoever prevails is where Megumi’s fate will lie at the end of the story.
Sukuna - he remains trapped
Kenjaku - dead
Jujutsu tech - alive
(Megumi’s curse in the middle of this poster)
Individuals like Nanami who want to protect people are the true embodiment of a jujutsu sorcerers.
And with the emphasis on children the series clearly has wouldn’t Megumi be the perfect reward for all of their sacrifices?
I think it will be in the form of a conversation between the two with Itadori dying to save Megumi who finally finds his self worth within that very sacrifice
Both conclusions are intertwined with one another.
And even that was a limited form of support as Gojo expected him to become powerful and fight curses regardless
This is all to make the point that Megumis true salvation = a huge win for jujutsu sorcerers
Itadoris character arc on the other hand revolves around embracing this cog mentality he has (playing his role)
And although it is flawed (as Sukuna has pointed out) I think it will come to a resolution in some way of course
I believe Megumi is that resolution.
Not only will this pull on the theme of strength in jjk but also beautifully show that every death truly meant something on both an individual level and in the grand scheme of things, which it’s already done on a smaller scale time and time again
Hugaruma being the latest exampl
And if we look at it from the perspective further it becomes even more clear just what Itadori and Megumi’s roles in the story are
Itadori gains the power of a curse to release Megumi by embracing this world and Megumi is released from it by finally embracing himself.

Honest answer
Eren is shocked that Armin understands him and his happy to be relieved of his loneliness
Armin understands that this is the last time he’s gonna see eren so he looks at him with sadness
Simple answer: they were gonna kiss
This is what I meant by the fandom can’t even pick up on the most basic implicit depth in a character.
Titan shifters can’t regenerate fully without the will to live. This man Eren had no will to live in 131, just the will to move forward.
Centipedes only move forward
Guys am I blind or am I reading this right
Did they just call Levi a IDF solider 💀
The same Levi who throughout the series is helping refugee children that grew up in the same environment as him
Am I the only one that doesn’t understand why mfs over exaggerate tf out of Connie wanting to try save his mom?
It doesn’t matter if the world is ending or not, any normal person would still be thinking about there mom in that situation 💀
Clearly such a forced reaction
Greatest of all time. Zenith of the medium. Hallmark of media. Gold standard of storytelling. Apogee of creativity. Vertex of invention. Crest of ingenuity. Acme of imagination. Pinnacle of innovation. Epic of epics. Legend among legends. Peak fiction
Ichigo I love you
I will never understand why people call Mikasa and Sakura stans annoying.
You just expect them to shut up when people in the fandom start trashing them.
I’m not gonna lie, it low-key hurt me how Eren was always silently crying out for help but nobody actually tried to help him.
I don’t blame them, it’s just sad to see how much he suffered.
Eren’s Characterisation has to be one of the most underrated parts of his character.
So here’s a thread explaining why the final chapter (for me) was a near perfect conclusion for his character and ties in with everything we’ve seen so far.
“The fandom deserves better from AOT”
The same fandom that:
- Sent death threats to mappa
- Sent death threats and harassed the editor
- Constantly Shit on their own author and clearly have no respect for him
This fandom doesn’t deserve shit😂
@freckles887
You know what my problem is, it’s the fact that there is so much plot armour, this doesn’t even seem like a bad chapter, it’s just the fact that there’s 2 left and the alliance feels like a second hand avengers
Saying AOT’s ending is nihilistic is up there as one of the most brain dead and reductive takes I’ve seen.
It’s not even a surface level view, it’s just wrong lmao
Since all I’ve been seeing on my TL is MHA fans slandering Eren.
Here’s Friendly reminder that with or without 139 the “virgin incel simp bird” is still comfortably better written then Deku.
Deku is still the best new gen MC but some MHA fans have actually lost their mind 🤦🏿♂️
aot fans r actually crazy if u say 1 negative thing abt the creator they will literally go wild and try to defend EVERY LITTLE THING HE DOES !!! like you have to praise the creator of something of u like it or something
@25thMyles
They can’t stand a “Chad” character turning out to be a pathetic and realistic human being.
Light was a kid that was given too much power, this ending summarised it perfectly
@LadyBelleelmore
I like to think that Paradis never learnt from their mistakes and eventually became a completely fascist nation and gets destroyed because of it.
Quotes are so funny, nobody outside of Twitter or Reddit will argue against this
Anyways, AOT is the greatest piece of fiction and I will happily say that with my chest
