No connection since 11am here in #Rafah and seemingly across most parts of #GazaStrip Came back online to learn one of my colleagues - who only just left #Rafah looking for safety - has been killed with his family in bombardments. There are no words. This is Gaza today.

300,000 children used to learn in @unrwa schools in #Gaza Today, the schools are either being used as emergency shelters, or assessed by the @UN for unexploded ordnance. Education has been replaced by fear & loss. Loss of life, home & stability. There is no childhood in Gaza

Footage yesterday by my colleague @amra_ashraf shows more families fleeing, after continued Israeli strikes & bombardments in #Rafah Friends say “What's the point of moving yet again if we will be killed anyway?” People are dying inside. Everywhere they look, there is death.

Images in Deir al-Balah #Gaza from my colleague @amra_ashraf show the extent of the latest forced displacement - as 650,000 people estimated to have fled #Rafah Makeshift shelters crammed together along beach & up to shoreline, as desperate families try to find space to survive.

Back in #Gaza city today, the world hasn’t seen anything like this. Destruction and suffering under siege. Thousands presumed buried under the rubble. Yet devastation continues as the war rages on after 7 months.

#Rafah 7am this morning: steady stream of vehicles already packed up with families & belongings as people continue to leave the area. Those staying go about their daily survival, collecting water. Families & colleagues I speak to express their continued fear of what to do next.

Everywhere you look now in west #Rafah this morning, families are packing up. Streets are significantly emptier; @unrwa estimates 150,000 people have now fled Rafah. New areas have been issued evacuation orders towards central #Rafah in south #Gaza AND #Jabalia in North #Gaza

This morning in western #Rafah : families have moved as far west as possible, now reaching the shore & along the beach. Today awoken by navy shelling. Inland in Rafah is now a ghost town. It’s hard to believe there were over 1 million people sheltering here just a week ago.

Everyone here in #Rafah is exhausted. Families have been forcibly displaced again and again. Forced to move with minimal notice and next to no means. My colleague worries for his elderly parents. I can see he is at breaking point.

The last family packs up and leaves. Western #Rafah - if not all Rafah - visibly emptying before our eyes, as the forced & inhumane displacement of Palestinians continues. More loss. More death. More suffering.

Just a couple of days ago, this whole area in western #Rafah was packed with makeshift shelters side by side. This morning you can actually see the sand, as one by one families pack up their shelters, put their things by the side of the road and make their way out of Rafah.

In the middle of @UNRWA #Rafah log base, where some 45,000 people are sheltering, you'll find Madeline holding classes for children among shelters. A trained accountant, Madeline now spends her days teaching children - as she wants to "give hope only possible through education."

Very wet in #Rafah this morning as 1.4 million people nervously await information. There is an overwhelming sense of fear among the population, of whom half are children.

Little remaining of @unrwa Khan Younis training centre, where +40,000 people once sheltered when it came under direct fire by military operation & besieged. Entire rooms burnt out, belongings scattered everywhere. Graves of children in the yard read “your sister misses you”

Thousands of tons of steaming trash pile up between shelters in the sweltering heat. Families search among the trash for salvageable materials; Children fly kites. Everyone you speak to is absolutely exhausted. #Gaza today.

#Gaza Khan Younis today, abandoned children’s shoes. Everywhere. Thousands of families used to shelter in these @unrwa schools turned shelters before they came under attack. So many belongings left behind. People fleeing so fast, even shoes were left.

"The most important thing now is to be alive" My colleague tells me, as we say goodbye before he leaves #Rafah with his wife & 1 yr old daughter, Julia. His family is trapped in #Gaza City, but insists "it's a miracle they're still alive, because they have no food" Gaza today.

In #Rafah this morning, people go about their daily survival - collecting water, mostly. A still nervousness sits among families. Any large scale offensive from Israeli Forces here would mean more suffering and death. The consequences are beyond imagination.

Families - children - are being killed as they sleep. People are starving. Everyone is living in absolute terror. You may have seen video capturing the horrors of last night in #Rafah . This has been the recurring nightmare for people across the #GazaStrip for over 7 months.

All across #Gaza , people have moved back into damaged & destroyed buildings because there is nowhere else to go Every @UNRWA facility we saw today in Rafah, Khan Younis and Deir Al Balah had blown out walls, bullet holes & severe damage. 8 months of war, still nowhere is safe.

Both photos from western #Rafah ; the first taken on Monday & the second this afternoon. Even though we are outside of the current “evacuation zone” in south #Gaza , intensified bombardment advancing towards centre of #Rafah the past 36 hours have terrified families into leaving.

Already on the ground, we're seeing families flee this area. More chaos & panic spreading - parents, families making impossible decisions as heavy bombardment continues across #GazaStrip @UNRWA estimates that around 250,000 people are impacted by these orders. No place is safe.

New evacuation orders issued last night in east Khan Younis In this area people were already forced to survive in severely damaged, destroyed, structurally unsafe buildings after #Rafah military operation With shelters up to the shore line- where can 100,000 impacted people go?

Just a few weeks ago, my friend Mona gave blood to another colleague because patients are relying on blood donations from within the displaced community to survive. People are dying daily due to restricted humanitarian access, causing a lack of resources. #Gaza needs more aid.

Scenes from Bureij Camp middle #Gaza today. Alarming concern over hygiene & sanitation as we move into summer - yet an @unrwa sanitation truck lies blasted into a wall. Waste keeps piling up, increasing spread of diseases - but necessary machinery is totally destroyed.

#Gaza Reports of children dying in extreme heat this week are a terrifying warning of the horrors that will continue as the weather warms up. Almost an entire population is displaced, many surviving under makeshift shelters with limited clean water available. This war must stop.

There is no such thing as a safe place in #Gaza .   Nowhere and nobody is safe. Every day that goes by, more civilians die and families are forced to live in increasingly unspeakable conditions.   The #GazaStrip has become hell on earth. The only remaining hope is a #CeasefireNow

When we say people have nowhere to go, this is what we mean. Families living 8 floors high, “inside”destroyed and damaged buildings. Because it’s the best option available. An entire population, repeatedly fleeing for their lives - but unable to actually flee the #GazaStrip

Today in Nuseirat, middle #Gaza A child sits on top of a vehicle, holding onto family belongings, piled as high as can be balanced. An endless, reoccurring sight over the last 8 months in the #GazaStrip The question everyone asks: “Where do we go now?”
