Husband | Father | Councilman At-Large for
@CityofColumbia
| Trial Lawyer Fighting for Justice
@BaileyLawFirmSC
| Civil Rights Advocate | Good Trouble Maker
Thank you Columbia for resoundingly selecting me to serve as your next At-Large City Councilman. I am truly humbled to serve at this level! I’m excited about Columbia’s future and what this vote means for our City. This is not just a win for me, It’s a win for Columbia!
Congratulations to my wife, now the Honorable Judge Allyce Bailey, on your swearing-in. You’ve wanted to be a judge since you were a little kid and now that is a reality. I’m proud to be by your side on the journey!
If I was Buster Murdaugh, I would make it my life’s work to restore the good will the Murdaugh name once had. As someone who is the grandson of a convicted felon, and son of a father who made it a point to be the exact opposite of his father, I know it can be done.
As someone who proudly has the American flag flying on the doorsteps of his house, these are just a few of the racist derogatory comments made towards me for actually standing up for the ideals and constitutional rights our flag stands for. Just another day on the job 🤷🏾♂️ 🇺🇸
Today, I launched my bid for Columbia City Council At-Large! My mission: protect our neighborhoods, ensure public safety, attract vibrant industries, support arts & culture and bolster small businesses. Let's make
#Columbia
a city where everyone loves to live, work, and play.
Feeling honored & privileged at yesterday's
@CityofColumbia
City Council Swearing-In Ceremony. Surrounded by my family, I solemnly pledged to fulfill my duties of this office & uphold our State & U.S. Constitutions. Grateful to God, ready to start the work ahead!
#NewBeginnings
I believe in this City, in what it can be, and I want to see Columbia realize its full potential. I’m running for City Council At-Large because I’m ready to step up to lead our city to its next chapter so we can finally realize our full potential!
I started my morning with a conversation w/a representative of the SC chapter of
@MomsDemand
. They’re doing great work pushing commons sense gun safety initiatives. I’m also wearing this orange ribbon this the weekend to honor the lives of those taken & changed by gun violence!🙏🏾
For my birthday I gave myself a weekend. No emails, barely took a phone call, and listened to all my favorite albums on road. Life was good this weekend.
Today is the day I take my official oath of office to serve the people of Columbia as their next At-Large City Councilman. It’s going to be an honor to serve!
The Swearing-In is open to the public at City Hall. You can also view it live on
@CityofColumbia
YouTube page.
I’m not complaining but can we please have the rims on basketball goals at Logan Elementary school, and other schools across Columbia, put back up. We’re going to have a generation of kids with terrible jump shots if we don’t address this…
Today is my birthday. God has blessed me tremendously and I didn’t have to tackle anyone or get cussed out by any coaches to get the blessing I don’t deserve. 🙏🏾
Thank you
@rolandsmartin
for providing a platform for my clients to tell their story about their fight for justice and accountability after their 9th grade daughter was assaulted by a teacher for exercising her first amendment rights.
People who are scared to do anything always have the most criticism about those who put themselves out there to try something. Stay focused and keep pushing.
Thank you Columbia! I’m humbled by the support I received across the city. Congratulations to
@aditisrivastav
&
@Rickenmann
. I’m hopeful that City Council will put the needs of all of our city’s people above all else, and will build a Columbia that positions everyone for success.
It’s been an eventful year to say the least and I have a lot to be thankful for. Enjoy your thanksgiving with your friends and family and be grateful for the little things!
Walking in the courthouse this morning:
Court officer 1: Are you here for roll call?
Court officer 2: He’s way too clean cut for roll call, he must be here for child support.
Bailiff: Do you have a lawyer, sir?
Me: 😒
Rest In Peace to my great uncle Robert Bailey. 86 years well lived. He was the closest thing to a grandfather I ever had. Veteran, postal worker, motorcycle enthusiast, 5 mile a day walker, and a great man that I will miss dearly.
This election is not about me. It’s about you. It’s about your neighborhood, your kids, your business, and your community! We have to address rising violent crime, lack of opportunity, our infrastructure, etc., for our city to reach its full potential. Vote Bailey on Nov. 16th!
Someone just joked and said that I don’t have a real job because I’m my own boss. My response was, “well have you ever built a business!?” I’ve written checks to pay employees when I didn’t have enough money to pay myself for months on end. It takes sacrifices to build things.
Rest in peace to my sister LaCrystal Jackson. If it wasn’t for your efforts I wouldn’t be serving on
@CityofColumbia
City Council. You pushed so hard on my 21 and 23 campaigns and we became family. I promise I won’t let up one inch. Your legacy will live on! Love you 💔
I’m running for Columbia City Council At-Large because I want your family to succeed as much as I want my family to succeed!

I moved recently but have been so busy that I haven’t taken anytime to enjoy my new home. Well I took a second to enjoy it his evening and now I’m acting like I haven’t been anywhere before. Small wins!
Yesterday I had the honor and privilege of officially filing as a candidate for Columbia City Council At-Large. I am committed to being a person you can trust to put the needs and vision of Columbia first! Let’s do this!
Entering downtown Columbia from I-26 onto Elmwood should be a welcoming sight. Unfortunately, it’s pretty blah to say the least. We should change that. We can change that.
Just received a good report from the pediatric surgeon for my youngest son, David. His big brother will be jealous of his cast aka “super arm” when he returns home from daycare. Thank you to Robert Hydorn, MD and all the pediatric surgeons, nurses, and staff at!
@phorthopedics
Huge shoutout to

Unfiltered but local media has largely stayed away from covering our case... Make it make sense… 🤔

Shoutout to the people who get up everyday to fight for the little guy, working families, the vulnerable, the accused, etc., and aren’t scared to hold corporations, people, and institutions accountable no matter how big or powerful the competing interest may seem.
It was a great time Friday night supporting my brother Coach
@DanBailey11
and
@queensMBB
! Great win and I wish yall the best with your conference tournament! 💪🏾

Great picture of my son pouring sparkling water on my head as we tried to capture a family photo minus a few from the crew. I hope y’all enjoyed your Easter Sunday!
I need a law clerk. Spread the word to law students who display insane levels of ambition & energy, are self motivated & have do what takes attitudes. Must be passionate about justice & not scared to hit the ground running. Paid position but the experience will be more valuable!
Recap of this weekend with
@MomsDemand
. We met at Greenview Plaza in
#ColumbiaSC
for the
#WearOrange
Walk. We marched not just in steps, but strides towards ending gun violence. Honored to be part of this crucial movement. Together, we can and will make our city safer!
When I’m on zoom board meeting calls with my son in the background people say, “awww, you’re such a good dad.” When my wife does it they say, “are you distracted? Are you sure you can do this?” The double standard is ridiculous. Shame on this mentality!
Tomorrow I have a hearing where I will be asking the judge to allow a group of sexual assault survivors to continue their cases as Jane Does. You would think this would be an easy yes, but the other side wants the women to go on record with their names! Justice will get it right!
I’m humbled to have the support of
@bmbrbauer
for the run off election on Tuesday, November 16th! Heather truly cares about our community and is a champion for people. Your support means a lot. Let’s win!
Vote Bailey for Columbia City Council At-Large on Tuesday, November 16th!
I’m praying for our school resource officers this morning. Back in the day they just had to worry about breaking up a one on one fist fight. These days they have to be on alert to look out for signs of a potential mass school shooting. We have to pray for our community. 🙏🏾
Congratulations to the one and only
@GaBBYBows
on your ribbon cutting and drop-in for the Confidence by GaBBY Goodwin Retail Store and Girls’ Salon! You’re just getting started!
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown
of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12
I just filed my 5th lawsuit on behalf of a survivor who was frequently sexually assaulted & raped by her parole officer. She’s the 5th survivor to decide to fight for justice after being told she was unworthy. It takes a special type of evil to abuse their power & pray vulnerable
A traffic stop in this country can very well be a life or death situation for black people. I know this from my own first experience as a black man in this country and from the countless people I have represented in cases where they were subject to injustices 1/7
Take care of your mental health friends. It’s ok to go to therapy and do whatever else is necessary to protect your peace. There is no shame in seeking inward peace.
Nothing beats hanging with my two strongest supporters on a beautiful weekend while going door to door to introduce myself to neighbors, discuss issues concerning the city, and share information about my campaign!
The Bailey family lost our family dog this morning. We had 14 good years with him and I will miss him dearly. I never thought losing a pet would hurt but it does. Thanks for the good times friend.
@SolomonCanine
Congratulations on 25 years of changing lives and impacting the community! I look forward to the next 25 years of making a difference!

South Carolina WBB has arguably the largest Black fanbase in WCBB.
Home games at CLA have become a gathering place for the Black community of Columbia and beyond. For Black SC fans, support for Dawn Staley and her program runs much deeper than basketball.
I’m looking forward to speaking at Bishop’s Memorial A.M.E. Church in the morning for their 2023 Men’s Day Celebration! We’re in perilous times and men must rise to the challenges of today!
