Transport workers are the circulatory system that delivers essential workers to the

. We embrace our duty, but government has a reciprocal obligation to protect us with

and all sensible measures to reduce our exposure

The TWU sued the

The position of
@transportworker
& the position of
@TWULocal100
since Occupy Wall Street is we don’t transport arrestees. Aside from the politics in play, it’s dangerous for our members. We transport America’s working people, not protestors exercising “constitutional rights.”
.
@NYGovCuomo
alleging anyone but himself is an extortionist is laughable. Just ask NYS County Executives about the convos tying vaccine distribution to pledges of political support for Cuomo, amid the twin Nursing Home and Sexual Misconduct debacles .
@NYSAFLCIO
.
@CentralLaborNYC
My response:
"Sameulson is an extortionist who is trying to undo pension reform. We also understand he is a political supporter of Tish James and she says she may run against the governor, and he wants more benefits in his contract. Everyone gets that"
@muoiod
There is a technological revolution coming across all transport sectors ,with a huge potential negative impact on public transit workers and service delivery.
@AndrewYang
speaks powerfully in defense of workers, and understands that people come before profits.
The Transport Workers Union stands with

General President Sean O’Brien and UPS workers across America, including my neighborhood delivery man Dominic in Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn, who busts his ass everyday and deserves a just contract.
@TeamsterSOB

Congress enjoys paid sick leave, yet they see fit to deny that very benefit to freight rail workers. Workers cannot rely on political parties, it is literally always us against everyone else, and today's action by the Senate proves it.
@transportworker
NYers need Tish to run!
@TishJames
would restore competency and real working class politics to the job.
@GovKathyHochul
has pissed off every corner of the Democrat’s base, from LIC-Williamsburg’s kale chip crowd, to the trade unions. Tish beats Hochul if she wants it. Easily.
Tish James struggled to raise money in 2022 when she tried to run against Hochul but you have to imagine she's beginning to think seriously about 2026. She got a boost from the Trump civil trial, has been scandal-free, and is plainly ambitious.
It’s imperative for
@GovKathyHochul
to quickly oust Larry Schwartz . On every level his presence is detrimental to
@MTA
, his appointment wasn’t about the public good, it was always only about advancing a sordid political agenda. He’s begrimed the MTA immeasurably, He’s Gotta Go.
Gov. Kathy Hochul vowed Thursday to rid the MTA of political interference, hinting that Andrew Cuomo's lieutenant Larry Schwartz will soon be ousted from the transit agency’s board. ($)
Profiteering is a death scourge in passenger transport. It always results in diminishment of safety & service quality in pursuit of 💰.
@RMTunion

Rail companies are failing while making profit, says
@RMTunion

“Everybody is making profit and doing well out of the railway apart from railway workers and railway passengers.
“It’s perverse.”
The principle which must guide society's implementation of new technology is to ensure a just transition for transport workers. Absent direct safeguards to protect workers, innovation could easily run amok and kill these solid blue collar jobs.
@TTDAFLCIO
@SenSherrodBrown
New transportation technology should meet 4 key principles:
1) Transparent planning and reporting
2) The technology should be safe and secure
3) Workers should be involved in planning
4) We need strong privacy and cybersecurity standards
@TwuSamuelsen
@TTDAFLCIO
@SenateBanking
When cops commit blatant crimes, every “good” cop is far better served by their union calling it out and condemning the criminality, rather than trying to justify it. Trust of the police in working America would grow, and right now there is zero trust in many communities

"Kathy Hochul is an absolute enemy of the Transport Workers Union, and that photo is an anomaly," TWU International President John Samuelsen tells me about the tweet. But he understands Davis needs to maintain a relationship, leading a public sector union.
NY should have a permanent Fare Holiday. Like Education, Cops and Fire, public transit’s cost should be built into the broader tax base. It’d be a game changer, greening NYC, creating solid Blue Collar transit jobs and it’d put hundreds a year back in
@mta
riders pockets.
NYC needs a Fare Holiday for Memorial Day Week to get people back on the subway! Subway ridership is down 70% and this would be a great way to kick-off a summer recovery.
Corporate America's true colors exposed yet again: these multi-billion entities aren't just greedy, they're downright malicious.
@BankofAmerica
seeks a society with a permanent underclass of low-wage workers. The necessity of the trade union movement proves itself every day.
Whether your workplace is deep inside the subway or in the most powerful newsroom in the world, workers have a right to be treated with dignity and respect, and to stand up to bosses who enrich themselves off of our hard work.

MetroNorth Railroad has deliberately chosen a path toward

Metro-North Railroad train mechanics and cleaners say they’re gearing up for a strike, claiming the MTA isn’t sending “decision makers” to ongoing mediation talks.
But the MTA says there is “absolutely no threat” of a walkout.

NYS’s raid of 145M from the MTA is a huge betrayal of riders and workers in the middle of the system’s worst ever crisis . Put into perspective, 145M could add over 2,700 bus runs, remove every dangerous subway track defect for 10 years and stop unsafe booth closures.

So THIS is the MTA's long awaited transformation?! Attacking NYC's working poor & young people? Dehumanizing the system & privatizing East Side Access? The MTA is "transforming" the system on the backs of riders,

Workers in Alabama – and all across America – are voting on whether to organize a union in their workplace. It’s a vitally important choice – one that should be made without intimidation or threats by employers.
Every worker should have a free and fair choice to join a union.

The major gains for workers in this country have been achieved by workers coming together in collective action - like through strikes. Nothing we can do legislatively or cooperatively will ever do as much as the power of collective action. Period.
Transport Workers hear all kinds of niceties from the bosses, but "thank yous" aren't sufficient. Transport sector employers like NY's
@MTA
must show admiration/respect through

Pursuit of profit in passenger transport is detrimental to riders and workers, and often dangerous. Quality of service and state of good repair diminish while workers’ livelihoods are non-stop attacked. Train bosses loyalty goes to the investors not the people
@transportworker
🚆 Last year, train companies paid out almost £800m to shareholders then told rail unions that workers must take a real-terms pay cut.
This is disgraceful. It’s time to build a rail network that serves people, not profit.

Southwest Airlines CEO
@gary_kelly
is bragging about not cutting wages/benefits for workers during the pandemic?
What a joke.
He spent the past year trying to break the TWU's contracts with Southwest and threatened thousands of layoffs when we didn't roll over.
.
@Gary_Kelly
on relief package: “I think keeping people employed and just getting us through the trough of this pandemic so that we can all live to fight another day is absolutely critical. I think doing too little in a situation like this…has a far greater disastrous outcome.”

MTA Riders, MTA Workers,
@MTA
Board Members and Agency Heads all know Larry’s Gotta Go. Even Andrew Cuomo’s dog Captain knows it. Never in the history of NYS/NYC politics has there been such consensus. Poisonous Larry Schwartz must go.
10 years later, still an aching heart. I’m forever thankful to Bob, he guided my presidential victory in 2009
@TWULocal100
, came to NYC & stood with our new leadership repeatedly. He imparted on us the greatest wisdom ever for trade unionists- If you don’t fight back can’t win.
The great-truth teller:
@AMFANational
was powerless to beat Southwest and maintain AMT scope into Hawaii. The work is now outsourced and AMFA agreed to it. So they’re either weak, or sellouts, or both.
@transportworker
protected and increased all our Scope. Strength in Unity 👍.

NYS
@MTA
Chair Janno Lieber DEFRAUDED 💰wages from thousands of commuter rail workers.
@GovKathyHochul
refuses to correct this injustice. Instead of protecting
@MetroNorth
workers, she has declared allegiance to the FRAUD. So much for the hollow pro-worker speeches.
@NYSAFLCIO
New York
@GovKathyHochul
's political appointee Janno Lieber is keynoting

's event on transportation. Will he address his defrauding of wages from
@MetroNorth
workers or shady stake in a Manhattan casino bid? 🤔
Absent more transit service,
@MTA
will fail to meet New Yorkers’ needs as they implement congestion pricing.
The “Get Congestion Pricing Right” proposal understands that.
NY can begin to make public transit a real alternative by investing in frequent, reliable & free buses.
Congestion pricing is set to start this summer and NYers deserve an excellent public transit alternative.
Today, we launch a campaign to invest $90M for more frequent, reliable, and affordable bus service across NYC.
Ask your state reps to support this:
The slanderous opponents of the Central Park Carriages are insane. They tweet that I’m an animal abuser, when in fact I’m an animal lover. But I do despise the pompous social liberals who’ve invaded NYC, not giving a shite about workers, only about they’re faux-pious agendas.
Robots can’t compete with Humans in public transit . Robots can’t deviate from the script,they can’t compare with Human operators utilizing their God given instincts and street smarts.Workers are the single greatest asset in public transit service delivery. Robots are not heroes.
A rotten boss is the best worker organizer and
@MetroNorth
,
@MTA
and
@NYGov
have repeatedly demonstrated their highly evolved, creepy “rotten boss” organizing skills to
@transportworker
commuter rail workers in NY & CT over the last several months. Newsflash- We Won’t Be Broken.
.
@MTA
@MetroNorth
has launched a vicious attack on its blue-collar workers in
@twu2001_2055
looking to cause serious economic damage with draconian contract demands. The TWU has seen this movie before, we will fightback against ALL who harm us.
@twusamuelsen
@GovKathyHochul
Corporatization of public transport is ALWAYS toxic. Pursuit of Profit + railroading leads to negative outcomes every time, triggering degradation of safety & service, or wage & benefit depression, usually both. A total shafting for all working families.
@KeolisBoston
@MBTA
Fauxgressive deBlasio was an epic failure for workers during 8 years as NYC Mayor. He continually sided with the “donor class” against blue collar NY, he screwed nearly every union he came across, he is among the least fit individuals interested in the job. What a total joke.
Question of the Day:
Will our .
@transportworker
crew member be disciplined for missing work after being assaulted ? Will JetBlue Demand a DRs note? It’s entirely within the realm of possibility, .
@JetBlue
is not the benevolent employer it pretends to be. It’s the total opposite.
These vicious assaults must stop NOW. The TWU International passed a resolution last week calling for an industry-wide, permanent, no-fly list for passengers like this! We're also calling for harsher penalties & preventative measures
@twusamuelsen
@aflcio
@RossBarkan
Totally , definitely true . Coumo would have killed it even if he had to clandestinely go to one of judges in the lawsuits and get the MTA enjoined . He would have never bumbled himself into this hot mess.
