We weren’t planning on a resod this week, but Mother Nature had other plans. 10 inches of snow and all the snow in the stadium being hauled out on the sidelines changed things. My crew did an unbelievable job. They are the BEST! Everyone is tired but we are ready. Let’s Roll!

It’s been a crazy year. We have gone from over 100* in August to -8 in December. We have had 11 games with the 12th being the 5th straight AFCC. Thankful for my crew and all the work that has gone into getting us through the season. They are the BEST! We have learned so much!

A lot of growth in the last week. Heat has been adjusted back and forth from 70-75, grow tarps for 7 straight days along with grow lights moved around. My staff is amazing. They do an awesome job! We will try to keep growing all the way thru Thursday. Game #11 coming up!

I’ve seen at least 160 games from the field at Arrowhead. I have heard that place loud a bunch of times, but honestly think last night broke the 142.2 It was without question the loudest I have ever heard it.

She’s ready for the 6th game of the year. This will be the 5th NFL game and we have already had one college game. My crew has worked hard to keep it in good shape with all the traffic. I’m thankful for their commitment in keeping us in good shape. Great weather has helped too!

3 1/2 weeks is the longest break we will have this season to get ready for a game. We got rye seeded in, a couple granular fert apps, and a “pixie dust” brew of Ferromec and ManCombo with a little Primo. We will see how it looks after back to back games. Great job by my guys!

Pretty crazy last few days. We had to keep the grow tarp on a couple extra days because of temps. We weren’t sure what we would have under them with 3 days with a high around 15. The pic with the tall grass is Mon, the diamond cut is Tues, and the lanes and grow light are today.

Crazy last 3 weeks. We had brutally cold temps with 1 day being -8 & hi of 0. Gameday was low of 0 & hi of 14. We lowered soil temps and let rye go dormant for 5 days. Cranked heat back up after snow removal. 1st pic is tip burned and 2nd is a week later (today). Coming back.

Steel still coming out after Beyoncé. Should get the field back by Wednesday morning October 4th. We’ll strip the 4th, laser grade on the 5th, lay grass the 6th and 7th. We will roll, overseed and topdress on the 8th. Then paint the 10th and 11th. My crew is the best!

Grow tarps have been on for 12 days straight along with grow lights. Heat set at 70, then 75, then up to 80 for the super cold days. Grow lights out down the middle and in the corner at the tunnel. It’s crazy how much grass grew in the shade in super cold temps by the tunnel.

Temps have been pretty good the last few days and we have had decent sun. Soil heat set at 75 and will drop it down to 70 on Sunday. Seed has popped and growing well. 1st pic is the LED grow light on top of the tarp and 2nd is quick pic under grow tarp. Pretty cool.

Grow lights on top of grow tarps and heat set to 70. We were able to maintain soil temps around 60-62 throughout this last cold stretch. My guys bust their tails making all of this happen. It is quite the process getting everything where it needs to be.

I’m not a huge fan of tarps. I try to have the surface as natural as possible and leave it alone. However, with 1.5”-2.5” of rain forecasted between now and Monday’s game, we don’t have a choice. Wetting agent out and tarps on to make Monday’s game as good as we can make it!

Rye died as we took the tarp off for the AFC Championship... it went from 60 degree temps to 10 degrees. 3 weeks ago we found out we needed to overseed and grow in for an upcoming event. We seeded, turned heat to 70, and put on grow tarps. 2nd pic is 2 week mark. One week to go.

Dropped the height back to 5/8” with groomers, put out 60 tons of sand and dragged it in. Will throw some organic fert and a spray brew later this week. And then another spray brew with a little Primo early next week.

Quick nail drag and float about 1/4” - 1/2” deep, laser grade is in process now, one more float after grading, then add water overnight to keep sand firm and grass will start going down at 4:30 AM tomorrow morning.

It was difficult getting up early Monday morning after losing the AFC Championship to head to LA. However, the weather has been amazing, and it’s always a pleasure to get to work with this group of people. Most of us only see each other once a year, but we never miss a beat!

Super excited about our next science project! We got our Gramin Grain mixer in today and started pre-germinating seed. Should make a consistent mix of seed, Turfmend, and milorganite to help dry the seed out enough to get through our Vicon. Then take the terracombi seeder over it

Have 2 of the MU 50’s fired up for the mouth of the tunnel. One tunnel, 16 feet wide, in the SE corner of the stadium is the biggest challenge I have ever had growing grass. It’s also my favorite challenge. @SGLsystem provides great products! Time to fire them up!

If you are a grass guy and haven’t seen the Global Predictor App, you may want to take a look. I have used this meteorologist for years. He is the best I have ever seen. The long range forecasts have helped us prepare for the crazy weather of Kansas City. Hot, cold, rain, snow.
