They absolutely should be allowed to walk into the building. The lockdown of the Capitol is indicative that we do not have a functioning republic. Haven’t for a long time.

These clowns indicted
@MarkMeadows
for texting another rep: "Can you send me the number for the speaker and the leader of PA Legislature. POTUS wants to chat with them."
So we learned that the House's case lacked any substance whatsoever—there literally wasn't even a kitchen remodel—and that the "whistleblowers" were biased and were all being egged on by Paxton's political enemies. This was the trial. Time for this sham to be over.
#txlege
So we're hearing more now that everything that went down with the Paxton staff revolt was orchestrated out of

@georgepbush
who immediately started planning to political benefit from it.

Remember when Trump got elected and we were all concerned about ISIS and Syria and then that all just went away, and then they drove him out of office and immediately started WWIII with Russia?
The House put up Mateer as their key witness but it's clear the "revolt" in the office was NOT his decision. He was a follower. He's still unsure of himself. So the question is, who was the prime mover on this effort to remove

People realize this means we have to incarcerate the Democrats until they stop criminalizing politics or we just devolve into civil war, right? It’s all escalation.
Seriously if you support this indictment you’re a complete degenerate. Read it. It’s ridiculous. I just got to the part where they indicted a guy for saying he was “looking into the election,” exchanging contact info with another guy, and asking him to “help as needed.”

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. Reformation day is about celebrating the restoration of the faith and sound doctrine (both outside the Roman church and within it, to some extent), not about celebrating schism or separation.
Ep. 25 Liberals like Karl Rove just tried to annihilate Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. It didn't work. Paxton just joined us for his first interview since his acquittal.
Buzbee is eloquently laying out the divide between those of us who know the Feds sometimes do awful things and those who are still delusional that the FBI and DOJ are beyond reproach.

It’s amazing that people think this was a bad investment. The guy literally owns the “public square” and has the ability to boost or lower the volume on any particular speaker’s megaphone. That’s incredible influence.
Wow.
@DadePhelan
is an incredibly childish and immature man. He sounds scared. He's reading a script to shut

The basic theme of this opening statement from Andrew Murr is that he knows better than the voters, and that the

Any outside observer who watched that would have said “that resolution is going to fail.” The opponents mopped the floor. But this is the

You know who won’t get enough credit for last night’s victories? Jill Glover.
Obviously, she was no longer around to knock doors and such, but it was her tireless efforts (along with many others) on behalf of the party to push the

This is absolute madness. It is sick and cowardly. Beyond the unconstitutionality of it all,
@GovAbbott
's decrees seem designed to intentionally confuse citizens, and to allow him to deny responsibility for the consequences.
Abbott gives blessing in KWTX interview, saying Wolff has "finally figured" out what locals can do w/ masks under statewide order: "Gov't cannot require individuals to wear masks. However, pursuant to my plan, local governments can require stores and business to require masks."
I’m gobsmacked. This is the craziest one yet.
They indicted a white guy for recruiting a leader of “Black Voices for Trump” to talk to a black election worker and saying the worker was “afraid to talk” “because he was a white man.”
Seriously.
Cue the twilight zone music.

This post has been up for an hour. Just so you understand, I will almost certainly be having a conference call tomorrow about whether to sue you in state or federal court and whether we seek an injunction, damages, or both.
Whether this post stays up, or if you continue to
Bonkers. We now have state Supreme Court justices deciding it’s more fun to LARP as state Supreme Court justices than actually do their job. They make this pretend move and get a bunch of headlines but it can’t become anything but moot. It’s fake.
What’s really goofy is SCOTUS doesn’t even need to rule for Trump to stay on ballot.
They just need to take it and the stay remains and he’s on ballot.
SCOTUS could just sit on it.

It's actually even worse than
@DanPatrick
realizes. They're not killing bills over typos. They've had a plot, since the beginning of session, to make up rules whole-cloth to kill things over routine practices.
I’ll take this moment to remind everyone that this General Investigating Committee published numerous false statements about my clients’ cooperating with their investigation. They impugned the reputations of innocent staff members.
#txlege
The most interesting thing I've learned in this trial (possibly the only thing I've learned, since I've read the documents) is that Mateer left the FBI meeting and went and reported to
@GovAbbott

In summary, I just finished digging through the case law and the Paxton team is absolutely correct about Tex. Gov't Code 665.081 and its consistently held meaning by the courts. No removal for acts prior to election.
As said by the Court of Civil Appeals, "the phrase 'prior to his election to office' would, and is intended to, apply to a re-election as well as election in the first instance, since the re-election of the same officer is in legal effect the same as an original election.
Today a federal judge permanently enjoined enforcement of three unconstitutional statutes that were designed to prevent Texans from speaking out about the

Thank you. It is not a big enough controversy that the Bush Family, with decades of direct business ties to the House of Saud, covered up Saudi involvement in the 9/11 attacks that happened on Bush’s watch.
Just stopped a moment ago to say a prayer and be thankful for all of the FedEx and UPS (and USPS) delivery men who make the modern economy function. Can't imagine the stress those guys in Austin are under right now.
I'm tired as hell of
@GovAbbott
's phony-sophisticated "Well, if you read between the lines..." manner of decreeing laws. This is garbage. Either the rules are clear, and the he stands by them, or there are no rules.
Notable that the House impeachment lawyers are trying to get Nate Paul statements in as "co-conspirator statements" and Dan Patrick is sustaining objections and rejecting the concept that NP is a co-conspirator.

I have to apologize. I didn’t watch this until this morning because I thought it might be cringe. And it’s one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while. Hilarious.

You should ask it about redistricting. It’s illegal to use race except when it’s mandatory to use race, in which cases it’s illegal not to use race.
Nice little gem in a Texas Supreme Court decision today concluding school districts cannot hire lawyers on a contingent fee basis to try to increase local tax appraisals.
We often think of soldiers, policemen, and firemen as heroic professions. And they are. But we’ll soon be reminded that those who work to keep society going: utility workers, truck drivers, delivery men, etc, are heroes too. Lots of good people will be putting themselves at risk.
@FistedFoucault
@YCFederation
This idea there was no other way other than to surrender Eastern Europe to slavery is nonsense. We had troops in Italy. Churchill wanted to push up through Slovenia. Instead we followed Stalin’s demands, and came from the far west.
I'm a big believer in "primacy/recency." People remember the first thing they hear and the last thing they hear. In the House's case in chief, they first heard a 17-minute speech by a House member devoid of substance, and they last heard Hardin bungling resting his case.
#txlege
Parliamentarian Hugh Brady (working through his puppet, McDade Phelan) just unilaterally changed the House rules. Phelan just used a "practice note" which was written by Brady, not the House, to hold that the Speaker will refuse to refer the Senate's property tax bill.
