Washington grad Wayman Tisdale (1964-2009) gained fame as an all-american basketball player at O.U. He spent 12 seasons in the NBA and retired to focus on a celebrated jazz music career. The outstanding freshman award in the NCAA is named in his honor.

Booker T. Washington was built in 1908 as a two-room frame school building on Hartford Ave. between E. Cameron and E. Easton Streets. Now considered one of the top high schools in the nation, B.T.W. continues to educate Tulsa students at 1514 E. Zion St.

While schools remain closed as a preventive measure against the spread of COVID-19, Tulsa Public Schools will provide all children ages 18 and under with nutritious meals free of charge.
To slow the spread COVID-19 in our community, all schools in our district will be closed through Friday, April 3. At this time, students will return to classes no earlier than Monday, April 6. Families should anticipate that there may be an even longer closure.
