I started with the Rays in 2019. It was a fun year. But then covid happened.
2020 was rough.
But one day, in August of 2020, I hopped on a Zoom to do an interview with a guy I had frankly never really heard much of.
He had had covid for a month,
Kevin Cash on Wander’s ball flip yesterday, that has been quite the popular video today:
“I get home and now I know my son JD is gonna look at me & tell me to go out there & practice that play with him. Unfortunately, I won't be able to do that because I can't relate to the

This is what it’s all about.
Josh Lowe told us that his mom is battling brain cancer.
She will not be at the playoff games to see her sons play each other in the wild card round.
Josh asked her today if he could share the news and she said “Yes, the more prayers the better.”
Zach Eflin’s wife. A woman of the people.
“During the losing skid I thought I should change it up with a mustache. I asked my wife and she said “Yes. Do it for the boys.”
“Looking at it, it’s a last-place team against a team that’s in contention. They’re just trying to ignite something over there… Not worth our time at this moment. We’re focused on bigger things right now…”

It’s a special day for Randy Arozarena.
His mom finally got her Visa last week.
She flew in from Mexico and is going to watch her son play today in the majors for the first time.
She is also throwing out the first pitch 🥹
I love baseball.
🍿 William Contreras’ 2 run HR on to the green monster destroyed a fan’s popcorn in his bucket.
So, we invited the fans onto the field postgame, and William signed the popcorn bucket for the newly wed couple — right on the scuff his ball made on the bucket. ✍🏻
Zach Eflin said the umpires made him take off his rubber wedding ring.
Said it’s something that means a lot to him and he doesn’t like to not wear it.
But umps told him he would be ejected if he didn’t take it off. So he took it off and put it in his pocket.

Response of the night from Randy Arozarena when asked how he'd feel about playing NY again in playoffs at a rowdy Yankee stadium:

I owe the Twins a new IKEA stool…it no longer exists.”
Pete later went out in the 10th and closed out the game.
Brett Phillips on being left of the roster:
“At the very least I think I should have been starting on the mound tonight. But I think Shane will do a great job.”
Always keeping the humor & positivity.
And this is the sign he will be holding while watching his team.
Glasnow just gave a very honest rant:
"I just threw 80 something innings & you just told me I can't use anything. I have to change everything.
I truly believe 100% that's why I got hurt. I'm frustrated MLB doesn't understand. You can't just tell us to use nothing. It's crazy."

This is Roan Hoefling. The 15 year old from Ft Meyers who caught Wander Franco’s 3 run HR ball, his first MLB hit.
He gave it back to the Rays so Wander could have it. I’m sure some goodies will be coming his way.

Last night we lost my sweet Grandma.
Dementia can go to hell.
This was in April, the last time I saw you. You remembered me, but not my name. But you were in tears when we hugged because seeing family comforted you when your brain was tormenting you with this horrible disease.
A friendly reminder that Brett Phillips went to Rays fan fest with his grandma back in 1998 when the Rays first came to Saint Pete.
If anyone deserved that, it’s him.
Lifelong Rays fan born and raised in Seminole.
Well, one positive thing at the game today:
Baker Mayfield did indeed show up.
And he was wearing a Kevin Kelly Devil Rays jersey, taking pictures with fans.
Rays bullpen pitcher Kevin Kelly had to dress up as Mayfield and take the field for BP a couple weeks ago.
So Baker,

Today he did his first interview in English after the game. 👏🏻 Very impressed. Y’all don’t know how scary TV can be 😬

Not many things give me chills. I Just did a live interview w/ Chloe Grimes. She beat cancer once & is in her 2nd battle.
Her fav player is Brett Phillips. She gave him her wristband before the game. He said it would bring him luck.
As she’s explaining her battle, Brett homers.
On Roberto Clemente day, a day that honors a man who paved the way for Latinos in MLB, the Rays have made some history.
It’s the first time in Major League Baseball history, that all nine hitters in a starting lineup are Latino.
