@MSDeltaSB
While playing
@DSUBaseball
, my fav jersey was/is the green V-Neck. Why? Playing for the name on the front is always most important, the name on the back is
#2
in most cases. The back of that jersey said, “Statesmen.” Now that’s deep! TEAM always bigger than the individual.
When I’m out at games recruiting, 90% of the time, I’m paying attention to your attitude/body language. Also, I’m paying attention to how your parents behave. A lot of you may read this and ask, “What does that have to do with softball?”
I can’t promise you playing time, I can’t promise you that you’ll be an All-American, and I can’t promise that you’ll transfer to a Power 5.
I can promise you a quality education, I can promise you that you’ll be a better human and I can promise you that you’ll be well coached.
Those JUCO coaches you’ve ignored/ghosted may be the same coaches at a University years later when you’re looking for somewhere else to play.
Have a good day 🖤
The days of
@MSDeltaSB
just filling spots to have a softball team are over. We’re looking for young ladies that are coachable, that have a winner’s mentality, that wants to be here, and most of all that have HEART.
I knew what I signed up for when I took the job this past Summer. However, I preach to my girls in order to build this program, we must crawl before we walk, we must walk before we jog, and we must jog before we sprint. Once we start sprinting, we have to keep sprinting.
I am definitely appreciative of my team. I was hired this Summer to be the Head Coach and even though they signed to play for the previous coaches before me, they chose to honor their commitment and stay when they could’ve just gone elsewhere during the transition.

Although these aren’t the #’s we set as a goal for this year, staff and I are proud to see
@MSDeltaSB
making progress. Again, it’s a marathon, not a sprint.
Few things I look for when I’m recruiting:
- High First Pitch Strike percentage
- Athleticism
- Spin
- Swing path
- High Effort
- Basic Softball IQ
- Reaction Towards Teammates When Things Aren’t Going Your Way
Despite what the record says, everyone sees the change in
@MSDeltaSB
from previous years. We’re taking our bumps and bruises now as we’re headed in the right direction. History will be made soon.
Don’t care where you’re from nor how you look. If you can ball, get it done in the classroom, have a good attitude and an even better work ethic…. I CAN GET IN THE FOXHOLE WITH YOU.
Dear HS/Travel Ball Coaches,
You can’t be upset because a player didn’t want to go where you wanted them to go. 95% percent of you never had a recruiting experience so just stop the madness, PLEASE! It is those kids journey, not yours. Thanks‼️
Excited about this group of young ladies that are coming in the fall. 17 incoming Freshmen and only 4 returners. On a mission to make
@MSDeltaSB
a top program.
Throwing it back to when I had the chance of playing against
@DatDudeBP
in Pro Ball.
Notice I didn’t have my jersey on 😂. It was my off day and it was probably for the best off day ever because I didn’t have to pitch against this guy.
I was a Mississippi JUCO(Best JUCO conference in the nation) product. Ended up being named an All-American, Conference and Region Pitcher of The Year, All Decade, etc.
My point is don’t sleep on attending JUCO. Give yourself time to develop and mature as a player and a person.
Reality sets in when you get to college and figure out the playing field is evened out. Everyone was more than likely good at their HS. However, what will you do at the next level to separate yourself? Will you go even harder before and after practice? Or is practice just enough?
Parents, stop paying money to these hitting/pitching gurus that thinks there is only one way to succeed for all athletes they encounter. Real trainers know what works for Johnny may not work for Ty.
Different strokes for different folks.
@DeltaStateBSB
@DSUStatesmen
I remember pitching against Nova during Regionals. I could feel the ground shaking from cheers as I was exiting the mound in the 8th inning.
A lot of coaches often gripe when they don’t get invited to showcases and other events, but I quite frankly don’t let it bother me because I’ll probably still be there anyway without an invite. You don’t have to pay me to do something I was going to do anyway and that’s RECRUIT!
A lot of coaches never had a recruiting experience so don’t be pressured to make a quick decision. I encourage you to go on as many visits as you can, it’s an experience that you’ll never get back. Trust me, I’ve experienced it as a player.
Parents, if you don’t want your kids to be pushed or anyone to be hard on them while playing a competitive sport, just give them some crayons, pampers and scissors, and send them to daycare.
Do I get ignored by players that I try to recruit? Absolutely. Hey, that’s fine.
@MSDeltaSB
may be last on players list or not on there at all. In the near future, that’ll change.
@nextlevelbb
He cut his dreads to a length that was deemed acceptable and the coach still had a problem. 🫤 there’s literally players with their hair to their shoulders on that roster.
Athletes ask yourself do you really want to play College Softball/Baseball when you read this…
1. Practice from August to December
2. Can’t go home in the Spring
3. 6 a.m. workouts
4. You’re competing for your spot everyday.
5. Playing time is earned, not given.
Hey coaches, when you’re sending texts or emails to me, please start with Hey, Good Morning, introduce yourself or something. If you don’t, I will kindly reply back with, “Hey, How are you?” Just the way I was raised, nothing too extreme.
PSA: On December 2nd, 2023 we will be having our first HS/Post Grad Showcase.
Click the link to fill out the form. We’re looking forward to seeing you!

Athletes: If you’ve been doing it your way and it hasn’t been working, you should probably accept the adjustments your coaches are making instead of listening to your parents.
College hitter has a bat in his hand around 250 days a year.
Professional hitter has a bat in his hand around 300 days a year.
Professional hitter making a change probably closer to 330 days a year.
Yet we tell HS hitters who want to play at those levels to play other sports?
Athletes, if your phone is on DND when I send a message. Guess what I’m doing? PRESS DELIVER ANYWAY(seriously).
On a serious note, take those off of DND.
