I am excited to officially announce that I have accepted the assistant baseball coach position at Sierra College. I will be able to do what I love and that is working with pitchers on a daily basis. Thank you Coach Evo and Coach Wilson for putting your trust in me.
Maybe I am bias but I truly believe that the best High School baseball is in Northern California.
It is unbelievable how much talent is in this area. It makes recruiting athletes so much fun .
I am thankful for the group I get to work with each and every day. The coaching staff and this group of young athletes are the reason for this. I owe them all the credit. Thank you guys for everything.
Never really understood why kids choose to go to D1 programs to ride the bench and not play, or get 15 ABs or throw 7 innings for their first 2 years.
Wouldn’t you much rather play, get 100 ABs, or throw 50+ innings and be a dude at a good JC program instead? Must be the clout.
Baseball athletes the only way to be ELITE is by training and developing.
90% of HS and College athletes should train over summer instead of playing summer ball.
You cannot fix things/develop if you’re always playing.
You cannot work on a race car if it is always on the track..
If you’re interested in finding a JC Sierra College is recruiting and looking for talent.
Coming off a season where we were in the Final Four!
Tons of history, winning, development, great facilities, great coaches, and an awesome location to live in Rocklin, CA.
@FlatgroundApp
I’ve only been coaching for a short time now, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. When the players you help trust you and pick your brain about things there is no better feeling.
Each day that goes by I feel worse and worse for our guys at Sierra. We have a special group and I have loved every minute coaching and working with them all day in and day out. I am hoping and praying them and their families are safe.
We had a great opening weekend winning 3 games against 3 good programs. I was proud of our team and how we played, but most importantly I was proud of how fast the pitching staff broke down BP.
I also want to thank my family and friends for their endless support. I am also thankful for my time for my time at Tabor College and the Head Coach position with the Kansas Cannons. I am coming back home.
Today
@scwolverines
had our first meeting with the boys. Super excited to get this thing going. Can’t wait to get to know everyone and start throwing 🧀 . We have a ton of talent and it’s going to be an awesome journey. Juices are flowing and competition is in the air.
I did a Run-n-Gun (Max effort throw) with a 5oz baseball for the first time in about a year. I am glad to announce I hit 92mph. Sure wish I could still play. But, glad to be able to teach what I love.
Excited for

At Sierra we have our pitchers throw off a mound as much as possible. We don’t need guys blowing gas everyday. We have our guys on the slope playing catch, shortboxing, rhythm throwing, or penning with a guy down at different intensities. We have seen an uptick in K%.
It blows my mind to see “athletes” not knowing how to actually lift or what lifts they should be doing. Athletes should take pride in their strength programs and accept the challenge of learning and getting better prepared for their sport.
First practice was today along with getting back in the weight room with the boys. It’s gonna be a good year can’t wait to get this thing rolling. We got something special cooking in the Boro!
If you aren’t constantly learning and adapting as a coach you are letting your athletes down and most importantly you’re letting yourself down.
Never forget what made you want to get into it.
I love working with throwing athletes. I want to help as many pitchers as possible.
This was such an unbelievable year full of excitement.
This was a team full of incredible young athletes full of heart and determination.
It was so much fun spending everyday with this group grinding and developing. I will miss them all!
Your Wolverines wrapped up the season last night with a 35-15 record, placing 1st in NorCal and 3rd in the state overall. We would like to think all our fans, parents, administrators, athletic trainers, and everyone else involved in helping us get though this great season. 🏝️
I am absolutely blown away by the

convention in Dallas at the moment. There are so many great coaches and instructors here. I’m excited to be here for the weekend with the
@TaborBaseball
staff.

and I experimented with a little chaos training today. Just having a few of the guys find a way to get the job done and have fun doing it. We throw a BP Fastball with a 12/6 Curveball at random. There is always a way to get better
@TaborBaseball
Just finished up our fall season this week at Sierra. We have an awesome group of athletes. But, now it is time to cut them loose and see who can get better when no one is around to watch. During winter break you find out who your work horses and leaders are.
#BeatTheBreak
We are in about the 6 week of our throwing program with some of our pitchers very excited to see our guys moving up in velocity and enjoying the process.
Let’s go
@Kai_Petersonn
! Beyond happy for you!!! You believed in yourself all year long! More exciting moments to come.
Good things happen at Sierra College!
When this all ends, we will all look back at this time in our life and remember how we spend our time. How will you spend it? Will you be productive with your time or will you just waste it? Invest this time either in your work, future, or health.
If you’re a baseball athlete (athlete in general) that wants to play at the highest level and the most work you do is at practice you are only letting yourself down .
The athletes at the highest level are doing before, during, and after practice work.
Who are you on the mound? Or at the plate?
Who’s body language do you want? It is your choice..
You can’t fake your mentality when the tough gets going.
Your completion thinks you are the second photo.
I’m going crazy not being able to do anything baseball related.
If anyone needs pitching lessons let me know. I have hand sanitizer and masks. We will maintain a 6 foot distance as well.
Day 1 of Fall today. It’s a very exciting time for coaches & athletes.
1st meeting at Sierra College today
I want to be open minded when meeting and evaluating athletes. I hope athletes can do the same when being coached. Be open to new methods and coaching styles, it may help.

The dude is good. This pitching staff full of talent!
He is a quick clip of
@JakeTTorres
dominating today.
Pounded the zone
Made pitching that were balls look like strike to get swords
Had all his pitches working
Pushing tempo and making hitters uncomfortable
Competed!
Very excited for this young man!
Came to Sierra last year. Redshirted and developed into a heck of a pitcher. He took is RS year serious and it paid off !
So happy for you young G!
@Gerald_hanson3
If you plan to play college baseball you need to give yourself the best opportunity for success.
You need to prioritize your development this summer. Start training and start your return to throwing . Be prepared for this upcoming Fall.
Curveball drill
Use a Rocker or a Lasso setup with a arm constraint at 90. We want to pull the front of the baseball with our middle finger.
Tips:
Find a comfortable grip
Stuff wrist (Shake the hand)
Middle finger and thumb dominate
Finish out front
Same arm path and speed as FB
Reminder to all athletes. If you want to recover faster and feel better. You need to SLEEP and EAT.
Consume fresh natural foods.
Get 8-9 hours of sleep. (Go to bed before 11pm).
Are you a pitcher that has a tough time loading their back leg or getting into a hinged position?
Try a Step Back drill
Helps:
Create that hinge or loading feel
Give you that feeling of building tension
Helps shift weight
Can help with rhythm/timing issue
If you didn’t get any looks from a D1 program make sure you start to open up your options. Tons of great programs around. Especially at the JUCO Level.
Get into the weight room and start training so you can perform at a high level.
Get a coach that can design a plan for you.
The Division 1 baseball recruiting period ended yesterday. There will not be D1 coaches at any of your games, showcases, practices, etc. until March 1st of next year. The only exception is if you attend a camp at an individual school.
Now is the time to get after it on the
Looking for a few more athletes that would want to train remote with me. Remote programs still give you access to the gym.

Do you struggle throwing a Change-Up?
Many pitchers do. It requires feel and there are multiple types.
Try a Splitter?
Why?
1. Easy to throw. It is a FB with a split finger grip.
2. Looks like a FB out of the hand
3. Soft contact
4. High Swing and Miss Rate
5. They are nasty

We follow the Driveline model and take recovery very serious. Velo & Command have increased. CB and FB are very impressive.
Struggle throwing strikes?
Play great catch. It is the foundation of pitching.
Keep it simple before adding complex movements or throws.
As you get better add drill work.
Make every throw to your partner at every distance you’re at.
Command & Feel will improve drastically.
Sierra College is putting on a youth camp and immediately after is our Prospect Camp for High School kids interested in the program.
This is an awesome event that allows athletes to get exposure and meet the players and coaches.
Please check the link on the sheet
At the JC level development is key. It’s my job to help athletes get better. I want athletes to enjoy the development process, but also understand why they are doing certain things. Athletes will have a daily plan customized to fit their needs. Go somewhere that cares about you.
LFG! Very exciting news! I was able to watch this young man pitch at 17 years old in Kansas for summer ball. He then took a chance to come to Sierra College to play.
You have worked hard, but it’s time to work even harder. Can’t wait to follow along with your next journey Dev.
Congrats to Sierra Wolverine Devin Marton on his scholarship to
@NevadaBaseball
Great baseball player and even better person. Best of luck in the next chapter

The baseball season has ended for majority of baseball athletes. Some advise, reflect on the past season. Take the positives & negatives into account and find out where you need to improve.
Velo?
Secondary pitches?
Strength?
Stamina?
Health?
Improve or build on them this summer
Pitchers hit the checkpoints in your delivery & catch the sequence down the mound. It is about your timing down the slope.
Catch the energy waves & hit the sequence during leg lift, coil, hand break, in arm swing , at FP, at layback, and release.
Throw off the mound as much as you can if you are a pitcher. Use Stand -ins. Be prepared to compete at a high level.

If you didn’t make the spring roster for College program, Don’t Stop Working.
If you didn’t make the spring roster at your High School, Don’t Stop Working.
If you redshirted this year, Don’t Stop Working.
I see so many athletes take the spring off after being cut. Go train!
Beyond excited for
@DrewAguiar1
. This young man has gone through so much in a short period of time. Stayed positive and believed in himself.
He is an amazing young man. Continue to work everyday!
Pitchers there are no quick fixes or one drill to help you be an elite pitcher.
It’s takes persistence, hard work , and dedication. You have to eat right, sleep right, do the work everyday. Use your time wisely and track what you are doing. If you need help find a professional.
Some guys want to be the best on the team
And
Some guys just want to be on the team
There’s a huge difference here.
Are you studying your sport, lifting weights, doing speed work, eating right, sleeping enough, pushing others, evaluating performance, doing all the extra work?
The JUCO route helps provide athletes opportunity.
@scwolverines
has built an amazing program over the years.
Awesome track record for helping athletes get scholarships.
Sometimes breathing can change your life. Helps you relax, helps you recover, helps you focus, helps you live a full life.
Athletes tend to carry a lot of stress . Take a step back and lay down, close your eyes, take a few deep meaningful breaths, and slow your world down.
Want to be a contributing factor for your College team as a Freshman.
You have to start preparing for College while you are in High School.
The biggest difference I notice from level to level is maturity and physicality.
You must look and act the part if you want a role.
The mental side
Something we do before every game .
We get our mind right. We stay calm and relaxed in any situation.
We work on all positive thoughts here.
The mind is powerful. You can talk yourself into being successful and you can talk yourself out of being successful.
