I'm currently working on rewriting big parts of Desktoptale - I was hesitant at first due to the amount of work needed but the performance gains are enormous, it can now handle several hundred characters with ease (in contrast to 1.3.0 which already struggles with more than 50).

THE SOUL METER! Since Kanako absorbed Clover’s soul, they naturally depend on each other to survive. However, since their SOULs aren’t always in perfect balance, damage to them isn’t distributed equally.

Everything is exactly the same but every instance of colored text in the game gets a little bit of glow like in those "I remember you're genocides" memes
SWAP! These kids might share a single body, but they do get to decide who takes control of it! ACT is exclusive to Kanako while FIGHT is exclusive to Clover (Kanako doesn’t know how to wield a gun), but they only get one action in total per turn.
The soul meter combines two HP bars into one, showing Kanako’s HP on the left and Clover’s on the right. If either reaches 0, that’s it for the both of them. Only the active SOUL takes damage during the enemy turn. Which leads us to…
This effect stops at 1 HP to make it impossible to die from deterioration for balance reasons (this limitation could be removed as part of a “hard mode”)
FOCUS! This action allows transferring a certain amount of HP, determined by your performance in a button mashing minigame, between characters. You’ll have to last an enemy turn with the donor SOUL afterwards though, so don’t overdo it!
DETERIORATION! While moving the SOUL during the enemy turn, the active character’s health is slowly drained. Being the amazing team they are, however, the other kid can absorb that damage, adding it to their own HP so the sum remains constant.

I've seen a bunch of people talk about how funny a UTY dating sim would be on my TL today but if someone else made all the art and wrote all the dialogue I wouldn't mind lending a hand to turn it into a simple VN game and I'm only half joking

All gameplay footage was recorded from a somewhat playable demo I made in Godot over the span of just a few days. Not enough content to warrant a proper release, but the source code is available at if you wanna play around with it.
Seeing new Desktoptale custom characters still being released over 2 months after the last feature update makes me so incredibly happy, thank you guys for all your support!
If you're unfamiliar with Desktoptale, it's a small Windows application that puts a fully playable character from Undertale, Undertale Yellow or Deltarune on your desktop!
Alternatively, they'll wander around on their own if they aren't moved manually for a while.
I'm rebranding! It's a very very tiny change though, I just wanted a legally distinct username so the Nintendo ninjas won't come after me. I'll change my @ in a few days too but I wanted to give everyone a heads-up first!
A new (minor) update for Desktoptale, 1.5.1, is out now with a fix for the slight visual artifacts visible on certain characters at odd scale factors, as well as minor improvements to diagonal movement.

Got an assignment in my parallel programming course about parallelizing something I was allowed to choose myself, so I made it about Undertale Yellow because of course I did. Simulating 200000 of those bullets on 16 CPU cores instead of one increased my FPS from 20 to 120.
