1) Trying to be Perfect - it's impossible, quit stressing over it
I lost 28 pounds in 90 days

4) Designate their "space" - basement, loft, etc

9) Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does

Making friends with your kids' friends is VITAL
They need to feel comfortable enough to let their guard down
Creating a safe space that is also fun makes it easy for everyone to want to come over
2) Forgive everyone for everything. Holding a grudge isn't worth it

5) Live life to its fullest. Every day is special
6) You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree
20) Laugh with them. Laughter is the best medicine
21) Prepare them. Teens need to navigate this big scary world. don't let them go it alone

Dads must teach their kids that nothing in life will be given to them

Dads aren't perfect. They succumb to:
• Impatience
• Short Temper
• Failure
Don't be afraid to apologize
Your kids need to know what it looks like
2. "I am proud of you"
Kids are ALWAYS looking for confirmation - especially from their parents
Without hearing this from their dad, they will seek it out somewhere else
5. "Respect your mother"
Dads are the leaders of the house, but moms are the caregivers
Your kids need to see and hear that you respect your wife - every day
10. "Life's not fair"
Life is unfair, life is full of peril, life is just...hard
Dads who teach their kids that nothing in life is free are raising kids who will win at life
7. "Look out for your brother/sister"
Siblings are the first team that kids will ever be a part of
Dads who build up this "team" mentality will have kids who love and support each other forever
12) When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile
13) Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present

15) Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about

Dads must build up responsibility in their kids
By expecting a certain result and positively reinforcing it when it happens

3) Be ready for anything
This is the hardest part because kids' imaginations run 1000 mph
Don't be shocked if they start and stop activities at the drop of a hat
Roll with whatever happens
10) Celebrate their wins - no matter how large or small. Each one is worthy of a huge positive reaction
11) Make special memories. Camping Trips, Fishing trips, Broadway, Destination Vacations. Once-in-a-lifetime stuff lasts forever
6. "Failure is ok"
Failure is a natural part of life in school, sports, friendships, etc
Dads who work through these failures and use them as teaching moments
Will raise the future leaders of our country
