Wondering why Nashville has a demonic gilded (yes it’s covered in actual gold) 42ft tall pagan idol right in the middle of the city, the Parthenon replica is cool and all but this is actually insane and evil

POV: It's 2050, twenty years after the scrolls have been fully revealed, everyone is a Pythagorean now, the world is governed by Noetic Republicanism, and all our energy is sourced from the music of the stars.

"Numerous are the gods and each has his own language and this idiom is gentle; would it not be, the gods would not be the gods. Every time we hear from one of them, we believe he is the unique one and the revelation he brings the only one. We hear from another and believe of him

A friend has informed me that this year, Thomas Taylor's birthday--15 May--occurs on 7 Thargelion, coinciding with the births of both Apollo and Plato. And, using HMEPA, he confirmed that the calendars coincided in the same way in 1758 when Taylor was born.

@ingvaeone Beliefs like these—and the misreadings/misconceptions they’re based on—only serve to further obstruct one’s devotion to the Gods. They inevitably lead to either atheism or demonolatry.

@Heliotrophy Ultimately everything is connected to the Gods and we can’t pretend that doesn’t inform our values and agendas in other areas of life. But when we step into spaces dedicated to the Gods, Their worship, and promoting Their worship, we should keep our focus on serving Them ...

@polyphanes Repentance is a practice too easily dismissed as "Christian." Ancient Greek and Roman writers often spoke of entering temples with both a clean body and clean conscience. Personally, it's a valuable exercise in self-reflection and I incorporate into my pre-Noumenia purifications.

@doctormogger @punishedflorid1 By "real" I'm referring specifically to the existence of the Gods. The myths are real insofar as they reveal something true about being or the Gods, but they are not "real" in that they are literal reports of spatio-temporal phenomena.

@doctormogger @punishedflorid1 To put it in terms you might relate to: St. George is real, but his slaying of the dragon was not a historical event but a mythical account of the triumph of Christ over paganism.

@Heliotrophy The problem, as I see it, is an increasing politicization of polytheist spaces. It happens with both the right and left, but given the demographics of current polytheist communities, progressive causes are more salient. Increasingly, polytheist spaces...
