OOT was a rough transition into 3D is a weird hill to die on. There’s a reason nobody says it. You gotta remember this game came out in 1998 and pretty much defined what 3D RPGs could be. It introduced Z targeting for gods sake.

Pokemon's major issue isn't Game Freak lacking the talent or the Switch showing its age(although that isn't helping) it's the time constraints the developer has to work with. The turn around for Pokemon games is so fast they always release a year before they really should.

Maybe the guy just wanted a break after 27 long years. Charles isn't a young guy anymore, let him retire in peace without painting it as him being fired. If he wanted to play Mario till the sad day he leave this mortal realm he could but he chose to step back so respect that.
