@JoestarJokic Joel played great, but his stats were skewed. 27% of his games were against the 4 worst teams in the NBA - 43ppg 42% of his games were against the 6 worst D's at the time of GS injury - 40ppg He missed most of his toughest road games - 4 games all season against winning teams.

@FlukaMagic @walesfan1234 58 win MIL and 57 win BOS last season were both viewed as higher level contenders teams than OKC and MIN this season. Plus, '23 PHX would've been favored against '24 OKC and '24 MIN. '23 LAL would've been favored against '24 OKC in a playoff series.

@therealmikekb It makes sense. Jokic doesn't shoot nearly as much as Joel in the regular season. Jokic has 41 9+ assist games. Joel has 6.

@TruthBerner34 Actual advanced impact stats don't back up your argument. Jokic had 69 first place votes in the straw-poll at the all-star break. Since then, DEN is 15-2 and Jokic has dominated a bunch of games on national tv, including BOS. Hard to imagine anyone has gained ground on him.

@Glassfacers @NBA_University He only played with bench lineups in 21-22 because AG was his only starting level player. Same +/- story. He actually won his minutes at a higher rate than Giannis + Embiid. Plus DEN, of course stunk without him on the court.

@w7stgoat Not complicated. One big reason: Jokic wins his minutes with any combination of players at a much, much higher rate than Luka, and DEN loses their minutes with any combination of players with Jokic off at a much, much higher rate than DAL with Luka off:

@RealTomPetrini @Jethrow23 Only because Jokic played more minutes after he had a triple double in the fastest time ever. The triple doubles were impressive accomplishments for Wembanyama and Westbrook, but it's not a bonus over Jokic because he kept playing.

@btoporek Jokic was 16-4 against +.500 teams in his last 20 games. Embiid was 4-6 in his last 10 against +.500 teams. Jokic won 5 more games than Joel this season and dominated his minutes by score a lot more. That 5 game difference was the difference between 1st and 3rd for both teams.

@nikolaesthetic Especially because when he said it Jokic ranked #1 in the NBA in post ups + post up scoring + post up PPP. He ended the 22-23 season with 30% more pts than anyone else in the NBA on post ups. This season, he has 57% more post up points than anyone else (Embiid is hurt).

@njokicfanclub I don't trust the media to get it right after this season. Jokic should have won 3 in a row based on the data. Luka is going to get his flowers at some point if the MAVS can win games. I don't know that DAL will win though with their current roster construction.
