STRATONAUTICS VOLUME 1 RELEASED!
What's in a turbine or canard that's so aesthetically intriguing? This zine doesn't have the answer to that question- but it does have some absolutely fantastic art by the best aviation artists I know!
My headcanon is that minecraft is about a marooned sailor in the 19th century. My evidence is that upon finding out that the christian hell is a real place which exists the character's first instinct and canon path of progression is to strip mine it for resources
"solarpunk" "cassette futurism" "nasapunk" back in my day we just said "it looks cool" and delineated further by how much the author cared about radiator size
people reacting to ""ai concept art"" by saying that using it for quick thumbnail sketches/idea generation makes me really question what people think concept art is for. What's the point of doing design exploration if you aren't fucking designing anything?
oh shit wait I have enough stuff to scrape together a

post for once

Early cold war Swiss assault rifles universally look like something zeon made landfall with. This thing got fired at Amuro at some point, it's such a 70's anime gun
Wilno Precision Arms' "Suckerpunch", built off of a licensed raredyne chassis but with a loadout more typical of the marathon. An urban ghillie cape makes up for the mandatory company heraldry scheme of armor geometry obscuring dazzle camo.
Coalition use M2B2 Caiman Main Battle Suit in equatorial theater colors. (Cleaner lineart experimenting. Don’t know if I’m gonna do clean lineart mechs without a good reason to from now on)
@Hanasaku_Yuri
specifically the second point there, steampunk so rarely grapples with the staggeringly horrifying political/ideological situation in europe at the time. Steamboy is a standout example because the whole plot revolves around that conflict (also pants shittingly good designwork)
geriatric old man fight for the entertainment of inner sphere germans
they say that it's not the small laser that kills you, but the LRM-15 ammo it cooks off
I don't get why the rabid categorization of scifi/mechanical design aesthetics bothers me so much, or rather, haven't pinpointed a reason yet....but god it does
why even do variants of the same idea when the advanced guessing algorithm has no recollection of what it's already made? It can't meaningfully iterate, only shotgun out a bunch of the same fucking thing using the same parameters.
Y'know going by WWI rules this is the F-22's first air-to-air kill (observation balloon). We have spent untold billions developing the single greatest fighter aircraft of all time and it has thus far been used to pop a balloon.
thank you all for reading as well as watching the short! the outpouring of positive feedback has been really inspiring, and I know the rest of the team feels the same way
Destroyed SCS Monitor battlesuit somewhere in the Arcadia Planitia, Mars, 2104
Also the new header image! You guys always seem to like stuff from this setting
I have been drawing planes all month. I sit bolt upright suddenly, shuddering. My face turns as if on a pintle, retreating into my skull and revealing a new expression. Yes. It is time to draw mechs again.
every time a new genai thing slides across my feed I think more and more that we should treat sam altman the same way we would hypothetically talk about the guy that brought snakes to hawaii
y'know, I really wish that discord would stop jumping on literally every single silicon valley tech bandwagon without fail. I'm sure we're only second place to gamers in terms of demographics, but artists have to be a somewhat big part of the platform and none of em like this.
man people are way too fast to shit on space lasers or kinetic impactors just because star wars failed. Tell me all about the impracticality of a perfectly viable theory when one of my tungsten rods turns your house into magma
In order above, the first "final-ish" design of the Zwei (we had passed sketches back and forth and I settled on some proportions before this, shown below), 2's EW/sensor wing, and detail on the hands
A war in space. A routine mission. A deadly secret. Two massive MAN-MACHINES descend into a lush forest aboard an evacuated space colony.
GOOD LUCK KINGFISHER THREE
An animated short film inspired by 1970s space paintings and a future that never was, coming May 2024.
I live close enough to silicon valley that I should just start showing up in front of companies and proposing trains in startupnese. "It's a ground-based fully electric transit system comprised of next generation autonomous chained-pods to revolutionize transit" or something.
The countdown has begun to the world premiere of “Lost” music video tomorrow at 9pm PST. Set your reminder for the YouTube premiere:
