(2/3) The player's water trail and splashes have been improved. Also there are now 3 water types: clear/shallow, normal, and deep/opaque. Normally these are smoothly blended together but I've left the middle of the water unblended to better show them off.

Player house custom-ability is possible, but full world building will probably only be available if there is mod support. You can see a build gif here:

@ConnyNordlund I have a rough breakdown of how the lizard works on my profile. (pinned tweet) It's 2d but the concept is the same. As for the pixel-art look, I use very low-res textures with no lighting or blending and add some 2d elements (Eyes and spikes) as a final touch.

@Darkfafi The texturing part uses game maker exclusive functions (textured primitives) which do all the heavy lifting for you. I skipped over that as it doesn't really translate to other langauges.

@Sikthehedgehog @Foone The salamander SKELETON is universal language-wise as it's pure math. The texturing is made of 2d polygons/primitives which are game maker exclusive. I didn't explain that part as it doesn't really translate to any other languages AFAIK.

@NickAVV The scene is actually 3d, so 3d light is really easy. No (extra) surfaces are involved for the lighting. It's all basic shader code. It's seriously simple.

@ardawanzi The scene is made of 2d tiles placed in 3d space and drawn with a billboard shader. Tiles are held in a vertex buffer. Because the tiles are warped (They lean backwards) everything gets messed up if the camera moves.

@gabbvzq Just basic trig functions. No Box2d physics or anything. A humanoid creature would not be that difficult but I would need to change the perspective as a top-down human is hard to see.
