Pro wrestling is an art which requires talent. The people can’t feel what u do physically. The object is to make it look like a competitive contest without hurting one another using just enough force necessary. Taking care & respecting each others bodies. This is what NOT to do.

I don’t understand why a move such as a Canadian destroyer is used as a transition move. The move is like a super pile driver. Any move where your dumped on your head like that should be a finish. When it’s not u killed the move & u no longer suspended my disbelief. #mindofmondo

Lou Thesz vs Buddy Rogers. When the bell rings notice they didn’t go into the tie up right away. There testing each other, feeling out each other’s each move, displaying failure. Look at their footwork & how everything looks like a contest. #mindofmondo

Damn, what a backdrop! Should have been sold more. As Bron shows fire & intensity, give chance for a replay. Allow commentators to put champ over. Immediately popping back up to reverse seconds later & throw 2 missed lines diminished the beautiful bump & backdrop. Less is more.

Textbook. Back in the day if you took a pile driver they would stretcher you out and you would be left of TV for several weeks selling the injury. Today it’s used as just a high spot and rarely the finish.. It’s unfortunate.

Classic matches that drew the most $$ that people will never forget & always talk about were story driven. For ex Hogan vs Rock, Michaels vs Taker. They weren’t matches that were spot fests that did a bunch of moves to get a pop. A compelling story will always draw. #mindofmondo

A heels job is to get the babyface over. If the face isn’t over the heel can’t get any heat. Not having any heat results in no sympathy on the babyface. W/ no sympathy there’s no reason to care or wanna see the face make a comeback. Think/work w/feeling & emotion. #mindofmondo

If you’re in a headlock their is no need to back the person into the ropes to shoot them off IF your the same size. If the person who has u in a headlock is much bigger than u then it makes more sense to back them into the ropes for momentum purposes. #wrestling #mindofmondo

The more you milk a prop or create circumstances where it could be used but it keeps getting taken away the bigger the payoff will be when u execute it. The same could be said for moves. Jake the snake would go for DDT multiple times but when he hit it place erupted! #mindofmondo

If your a heel choose your cutoff spots wisely. When stopping your babyface on a heat or hope spot there’s always more heat cheating, or hitting the babyface from behind. Stay away from clotheslines. There redundant and theirs no heat behind the intent. #mindofmondo #wrestling

Do ur best to respect the referee. Make him credible in ur matches. He’s the authority in there. Put him over. So then when a heel breaks rules behind his back he gets heat. Less cool moves, more manipulation of ref taking shortcuts to gain advantage/keep control. #mindofmondo

IF I AM IN tag match & my partner “SELLING” about 2 make hot tag, I would INSIST my partner doesn’t hit a “BIG move/move” to then go back down selling (for no reason) to then JUST tag me! 1) killed the heat. 2) why do u need me if u have energy to hit “said” move? #mindofmondo

Being able to call a match in the ring is very important even in todays era. What happens when things don’t go according to plan? You need to be able to adapt and cover up without exposing yourself to the audience. #wrestling

In a tag match, heels cut ring in half when ur getting heat on a babyface. Establish quick tags keeping the fresh person in. Use ur partner to manipulate the ref to cheat. Don’t shoot off baby in the ropes where his partner is at. They should just tag. #mindofmondo #wrestling

If your on TV and you hit a big move or false finish take a second and pause before proceeding. Chances are they are replaying what you just did to people at home. Also allows commentators to put you over and tell your story. #wrestling

Tell mini stories in your heat. For ex if heat is on the back use moves like body slam, suplex & hard turnbuckle. Then later have face counter those same moves w/ defensive pins. Always establish the move 1st to educate the audience so it makes sense when countered. #mindofmondo

Mistakes I see in tag matches. 2 singles matches on front end & not working gimmick which is a tag. Heat spot in front of ref. Heels not cutting ring off making face work for hot tag. Face hitting big move before making hot tag, kills heat. Lack of fire in comeback. #mindofmondo

Pro wrestling today. What’s one thing I think the current product is missing today? The believability & realism factor. A lot of matches look “too smooth”. There needs to be failure more of a competitive struggle in the transition of holds & working those holds. #mindofmondo

Not everything in your match has to look perfectly smooth. Don’t be afraid to show failure in your match. It makes it look more realistic. A boxer doesn’t connect with every punch. A UFC fighter don’t succeed with every takedown attempt. Wrestling is no different. #wrestling

If I’m in a tag match and I’m the one taking heat I don’t wanna conclude the heat by me giving an offensive move. To strong & kills the heat. Therefore kills comeback. Why do I need a tag partner then? #wrestling #mindofmondo

O’Connor vs Langevin - Psychology 101. Wrestling with the head telling a headlock story. Watch the solid lockup, the intent when grabbing & going back to headlock. Footwork, ring awareness spot on. Everything comes back to the center of the ring. No wasted motion. #mindofmondo

This business is based on “emotion”. If you can make people feel happy, sad, angry, frustrated, excited etc you’re doing your job right. Real life feelings everyone’s experienced at some point. They can relate, understand & identify to that. Emotion is what sells tix! #wrestling
