I think Rory is a victim of his own success and our expectations of him are unrealistic. He's won 24 times on the PGA Tour, 16 times on the European Tour and 4 majors. It matters not to me if he doesn't win another major, he's great to watch and a credit to the game of golf.

A spectator Thomas Weaver died after being struck by lightning during a weather delay in the first round of the 1991 PGA. John Daly donated $30,000 from his $230,000 to Weaver's family for a college fund. Both daughters went on to graduate from college and one is now a doctor.

Played today with a 6 handicap golfer, nice chap and a good golfer. He must have repaired at least 3/4 unrepaired pitchmarks on every hole as well as his own. A man after my own heart! Why golfers don't repair their own pitchmarks as a matter of routine is a mystery to me.

When Simon Dyson was fined £30,000 and given a 3 month suspended ban in 2013 for tapping down a spike mark he was ostracised by his fellow pros and it was the end of his career. I do not understand this kind of response to Patrick Reed - it endorses and condones his cheating -

In 1992, the year both Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson turned 80 David Woo from The Dallas Morning News arranged for a photoshoot at Colonial Country Club on February 10. As they turned to leave he noticed Hogan extend his arm to help his old friend and rival and took a final photo.
