For all those wondering, this is my son Yoda. We share no blood but he is my life. He came from Dagobah (legally, of course) six years ago and lives with me in Malibu. I am so proud of him and raising him has been the best, most rewarding thing I’ve done in my life.

It seems Mr. Mark Saltzman was asked if Bert & Ernie are gay. It's fine that he feels they are. They're not, of course. But why that question? Does it really matter? Why the need to define people as only gay? There's much more to a human being than just straightness or gayness.

After years of work Jim and I flew from London to LA to show our final cut of DARK CRYSTAL to the studio. We sat a few rows behind the two execs in an empty screening room. The film ended. The execs stood up. And they walked out. Not saying a word to us. It was not a good day.

There are hidden artists among us. A really good short order cook is one. Bacon's on the griddle, bread in toaster, slice bagel, orders shouted, crack eggs, flip bacon, grab toast, hands moving, body in motion. All rhythm, rhythm, rhythm. A beautiful thing to watch. An artist.

I've always believed the world is lopsided. I get attention & money while others do far more important things to keep our world going: Yes, those who work with their hands, as my father did, but also from teachers to mental health workers. Thank you all for keeping us afloat.

Just saw Jordan Peele's "US" last night which premiered here at SXSW. A really scary movie with an underbelly of profundity. A movie that shines a dark spotlight on our duality and strikes at our souls. A significant movie--especially for these times in which we live.

I learned much from Irvin Kershner, director of “Empire.” Kersh said when filming a story logic often takes 2nd place. When the Millennium Falcon was in trouble and steam was bursting into the damaged ship, he said no one questioned steam in a space ship. Logic: 2nd place.

I don't know how I got here. I was this kid with low self esteem and a bit of talent. But a lot of people have talent and haven't "made it." Why did the planets line up for me? Why didn't other talented people get their Jim Henson as a mentor? I don't think I'll ever know why.

I saw a little girl in the security line today. Her Hello Kitty case was put in a bin to be X-rayed. She walked through the metal detector to be scanned. She sat and put her shoes back on. All normal. But it’s not. That little girl will never experience what’s really normal.

The biggest struggle I have as a dad is to know when it's best to support my grown kids and when it's best to leave them the hell alone. I wish newborns came out of the womb carrying a book for the husband on how to be a great father. But if we knew I guess we wouldn't be human.

Our attention shifts so rapidly. What happened to the kids who need to know where their parents are? What's happened to those parents who don't know where there kid are? What happens when parents are deported and the kids stay here? Are parents truly losing their kids forever?

TIMEPIECE, Jim’s short film, was nominated for an Academy award in 1965. Four other films were in the same category. One was a French short called “Le Poulet”. Jim and I both loved it. Instead of voting for his own film he voted for it. That was Jim. (It won the Oscar).

Roy Rogers and Dale Evans guest-starred on The Muppet Show. (I know most of you don't know who they were, nevertheless...) I asked them how their marriage had thrived for so long. Roy answered, "Give 90, take 10". Still the best advice I've ever heard to make any marriage last.
