I realize this may not be a popular opinion, but if I were a refugee who was coming to a new country after a brutal war forced me to leave my home I would not want to see cameras and politicians waiting for me at the airport. We can help people without the spectacle.

Adults in NL should have an appointment with a therapist every six months the same as we do the dentist. It should be fully paid for by MCP. Imagine the difference we could make across our society for normalizing and treating mental health issues. โ€œTime for a checkup!โ€

NL companies selling COVID rapid tests at a markup is a particularly bleak example of how bad things are in NL. Every other Province in Canada is supplying these to residents for free and here in NL we force people to pay for them. This is an unbelievably cruel policy choice.

Does anyone remember those chocolate chunks you could get at the store in a paper bag. Could get chocolate, peanut, and caramel. They were shaped like a pyramid w the top cut off. They were Neilsen brand I think? 25c a chunk? Man I'd kill for a bag of chips and 4 chunks now.

If you're under 40 in NL the real question you face is this: do you want to stick around and dedicate 30 years of your life for the ***CHANCE*** of helping NL turn it around? Or do you just pack up and go somewhere without this burden? Probably not a hard choice.

Taking the revenue from the Sugar Tax and giving it to folks who can afford $2,000 a year in fitness spending is wild. One of the most 'separated from reality' moments I can recall in NL politics. Extracting money from the poorest NLers will not help health outcomes.

The fact that a fried chicken chain has to issue a press release about a dispute between a city owned stadium and a hockey team is really Peak NL and I don't think we will ever top it.

I am so genuinely happy that masks are mandatory now in NL. So many lives will be saved. So much suffering prevented. It is such a smart move by the government.

I can't think of a more 'manly' thing to do than take your teenage son to see a movie about female empowerment and the perils of toxic masculinity. Anyone criticizing that behavior is broadcasting their own fragility and intolerance for all to see.

Being able to BBQ a burger for lunch, on the deck in the blazing sun, is another reason why every employer should offer work from home to any employee whose job can be done remotely. We get 90 days of sun a year so... yeah. It's just basic human decency to let people WFH.

Yesterday I went to Walmart for the first time in months. The mandatory mask policy made me feel the safest I've felt in any store since the pandemic started. I wish more stores would follow suit.

BREAKING--Costco, the nation's second-largest retailer, announces that it's adopting a $16 minimum wage for its 180,000 workers next week. That tops Amazon's and Target's $15 minimum and Walmart's paltry $11 minimum

The choices made by our leaders reflect their values and priorities. To authorize $140,000 for these couches in one breath while steadily communicating to NLers that we have to "do our part" and accept the hardships to come in another - is a stunning display of tone deafness.
