At 2:11 PM yesterday, officers rushed to 7000 S Ainsworth after receiving a distress call about a juvenile struggling to stay afloat in Wapato Lake. Officers from a nearby parking lot ran to the scene and saw the juvenile in the water twenty to thirty feet from the shoreline.

Officers responded to a burglary of the Star Center, 3873 S 66th St. A witness saw a suspect fleeing with computers. Officers and K9-4 responded. K9 Ronja tracked to the suspect who saw her and gave up. Multiple computers stolen in the burglary were recovered. Great job Ronja!

A big thank you to the citizen who saw this puppy left in a car in a parking lot. The outdoor temp was 75° F, but inside the car it was 107° F! Tacoma Animal Control took the puppy to a vet and puppy was expected to recover. Please don't leave kids or pets alone in cars!

On 5/21/22 at 5:34 pm 5 teenagers in a car were shot at in a drive-by while stopped for a light at S 56 and Yakima Ave. 4 of the 5 were injured in the shooting. Today at 5pm officers arrested the 19-yr-old male suspect & booked him for Drive-By Shooting & 5 counts of Assault 1.

Today TPD Special Investigations served a search warrant on a suspected drug trafficker supplying the Hosmer Corridor. Two males aged 36 & 40 were arrested for UPCS w/ Intent to Deliver & UPOF 1st. A "ghost gun", 50 gm of cocaine & crack, & 74 gm of fentanyl pills were recovered.

We stand with the Bothell Police Department after the death of one of their officers overnight. The officer, whose identity has not yet been released, was killed during a traffic stop. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and all Washingtonians who lost a great officer.

Homicide Arrest - Today, just before 4 p.m., officers arrested a 17-yr-old male at a residence in Tacoma for the homicide of a 14-yr-old female that occurred yesterday at S. 19 St/ Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The suspect was booked for Murder 1. The investigation is ongoing.

On June 28, 2023, Tacoman Jim Fraser saw a boater fall into the waters of Puget Sound and struggle to stay afloat. At 80 years of age, fearlessly, Fraser ran into the water and pulled the boater to safety. Today we honored him with the Tacoma Police Department Medal of Courage.

Today officers booked a 45-yr-old male into jail for 2 counts of Malicious Mischief 2 after he repeatedly vandalized a home in the 100 blk of E 68th St over the last few weeks. The victim had no idea why this suspect targeted her. Thank you to community members who helped ID him.
