EARLY ANNOUNCEMENT!
@dani_hosford
and I have teamed together to write an A-Level Maths textbook. This is why I haven't been making many videos recently!
It will be suitable for all exam boards, including exercises on each large data set.
[Artwork subject to change!]

After hours and hours and hours of work slaving over a hot Google Site, the new-look has been born! Videos on A-Level Maths, Further Maths, Core Maths, AQA, Edexcel, OCR A, OCR B (MEI), WJEC, Edexcel International, Cambridge International and more!
🎂 Happy birthday to TLMaths! 🎂
8 years ago, it all started with a Core 3, 2012 Integration by Substitution Q.
4200+ videos, 16mil+ views later, there still seems plenty of content still to make!
So
@dani_hosford
and I have some excellent news: our A-Level Maths textbook is complete! It’s been a huge number of hours to get this done by just 2 people. It’ll still be some time to sort out printing and selling, but we can definitely say it’s on the horizon!
Introducing my 3h40m A-Level Maths Whole Course Recap video! Took two days to film, and another day to edit. Designed for students who’ve finished the course.

TLMATHS TEXTBOOK MINI UPDATE!
@dani_hosford
and I wanted to give you a quick sneak peek at a page from the textbook to whet your appetite. We're working hard on making it the best we possibly can! Who would have thought writing a textbook would be such a large project!
If you need to set work remotely for A-Level Maths, feel free to link directly to my videos. Let me know if you can’t find anything. The digital-me could be teaching our whole cohort at this rate!
Since Sep 2018, I’ve been filming a playlist that goes through the whole of the compulsory Pure content for A-Level Further Maths (all boards). I filmed the final video today, a 3 year project.
I had something similar to this happen in class yesterday, catching me off-guard, and I’ve recreated the SHIFT EXE problem pointed out by
@Quadratica87928
about the new
@Casio
classwix fx991cw you should be aware of!
@GuideCalculator
Just finished the BUMPER Worksheet of Sketching Quadratics, can be downloaded from TES for FREE: Hopefully useful for 1st Year

and GCSE Maths.
Slowly building the TLMaths Bumper Book for Differentiation Year 2 - chock-full of too many questions to allow students to home-in and practice particular skills
Now with 1115 videos, over 102 hours to cover the A-Level Maths specification. Currently improving sections with more examples as my teaching has developed over the past few years. Any suggestions welcome 🤗
Enrolment is over, and we've enrolled a whopping 616 new students on A-Level Maths. That's almost 1100 students studying A-Level Maths at
@bartonpeveril
this year! Might need a few more Integral accounts...
If a student’s CAG was a U then fair enough, but one of the most disgraceful things about this whole process has been students awarded a U, a failing grade for 2 years work, because historically some people fail the exam.
One of those “build a spreadsheet that categorises all exam board questions for easy filtering” that takes days that you just want to be done with, but know will be incredibly useful.
A-Level Further Maths playlist now has 213 videos and growing! Sections on Proof, Complex Numbers and Matrices are complete. YouTube playlist here: and website here:
The OCR MEI Further Maths Mechanics Minor playlist is complete! 150 videos, just shy of 11.5 hours in total. This is on top of Modelling with Algorithms, Statistics Minor, plus all the Core Pure content. Happy New Year!
Thank you for including me, but I’ve got to be honest, I really dislike the new Classwiz. I just don’t understand how it can be seen as an improvement over the 991ex. What is the rationale of burying the nCr function in a menu for A-Level students for example?
I've just pushed past 300 videos on A-Level Further Maths compulsory pure content. Please take a look and feel free to share: . Currently wading through the extra Further Algebra & Functions AQA material (which I really enjoy!)
@Sheena2907
AND it's finally here! The BUMPER BOOK of 2nd Year Differentiation, with far, far, far, FAR too many questions, all with solutions, nearly 300 pages. Can be found here:
The task for
@dani_hosford
and I over the last couple of weeks has been to check solutions and make final tweaks. Today is no different! Let’s just say we’re both a bit knackered!
#TLMathsTextbook
Tonight’s entertainment! The books arrived on a large pallet and we have added bookmarks, popped them in plastic wallets, and packaged nearly 200. Tired now!
#ALevelMaths
Just started a playlist for GCSE Maths (F+H). Early days yet, but you can use and share this google doc to track progress and of course you can navigate via my website Hopefully it'll be as useful as the A-Level Maths playlist!
Hi
@AQAMaths
, on Q9c of 2023 AS Paper 1, you need to know the difference between a turning point and a stationary point. But in the Teaching Guidance, it says that this is examined only at full A-Level, not AS. Can this please be checked?
Assuming they’re not sat all at the same time, you wouldn’t want to be the first to set these mini papers would you? You’d wait until it’s had time to filter onto the student room and reddit and have full video solutions put on YouTube by some idiot.
All of the students I taught this year who got an A or A* in A-Level Maths worked incredibly hard to get it - congratulations to you all! Grade boundaries are lower as the exams are tougher and there were no 'banked' points from the AS.
When Kinematics goes Krazy? I was introduced to Jerk, Snap, Crackle and Pop earlier this year, but just discovered that Absement is the integral of Displacement
I’ve been using the new fx-991CW since it arrived, and I don’t agree. It now takes several button presses extra to do the basics. Every time I need to change a fraction to a decimal, or want to navigate the home menu using 1-9, I’m annoyed.
The thing that’s so different about the new ClassWiz is not its mathematical functionality, which is almost identical to previous models, but the fact that it’s much easier to operate.
Been meaning to make this resource for a while: Bumper Worksheet of Differential Equations (Separation of Variables) for 2nd Year A-Level Maths. Sols include both the separated form ready for integration and the general solution. Free:
Lots of interest in this, so I've added it to TES here - apologies for having to put a price tag on it but it was quite a mammoth project. There's over 2500 Qs & As - I just hope there's not over 2500 mistakes!
So after my marathon teaching-video-making-session yesterday, I have completed the first section, Number, of the GCSE Maths playlist! 320 videos in total, just over 22 hours of material. Algebra next!
Hi
@AQA
- do you have a time when all the information for exams is being released tomorrow? Just wondering if it’s going to be available in readiness for our Monday meeting.
Starting to put together some video solutions for my Bumper Book of Integrals. Includes free access to section 36, which is a big mix of A-Level Maths level integrals
We're not at the stage of taking orders or anything like that yet. But we wanted to let you know that we have something in the pipeline that we hope you and your students are going to find useful. We're really happy with what we've put together so far - very excited!

One of the questions I get asked most as Education Secretary is “What does ‘TL’ stand for?” 🤔💭
It stands for T Levels, and as Education Secretary, I will make them as famous as A levels.

Review of my first half term of using booklets for 1st year A-Level Maths: I'm very happy with them so far and the students seem to be too. Here is a selection of feedback I've received: /1
990 videos on the current
#ASMaths
and
#ALevelMaths
for ALL exam boards be it
#AQA
,
#Edexcel
,
#OCR
,
#OCRMEI
. Now working through all the papers: Perfect for revision and/or students who can't make it to class who need support.
Designing booklets for lessons, whether I end up using them in the long term or not, is making me rethink and question what I want the outcomes of the lesson to be and how I’m going to get there. This can only be a good thing, and I’m enjoying the process.
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! The A-Level Maths textbook
@dani_hosford
and I have written is NOW AVAILABLE for PRE-ORDERS! This is the first batch and numbers are limited. Thank you to all of those who have already ordered a copy. Pre-order here:
Ever since calculators were given the log_[]() button, allowing you to use any base, I've taught to solve 2^x=3 by converting to x=log_2(3). Does anyone still teach the old-school method of "logging both sides" and just using ln(2^x)=ln(3) => xln(2)=ln(3) => x=ln(2)/ln(3)?
