The best criticism I ever heard of GoT S8 was that it was "a destination so bad, it invalidated the journey." That you couldn't enjoy any part of it anymore, knowing where it would wind up
And then, incredibly, in the same year we get The Rise of Skywalker
@ShadowTodd
You do not owe yourself this. You owe yourself the opposite of this. If you have any shred of self-love absolutely do not listen to Space Jazz
Ever look at your Steam library and see a game that you are 100% sure you don't own? Like, you would never have bought it, nobody would ever have gifted it to you, you've never seen it before in your life? That happens to me four or five times a year.
I told
@ShadowTodd
he was going to be an uncle and his reaction was "oh wow, you're having a baby... What do I do with it? I don't know how to be an uncle"
I was a guest on
@SongVsSongPod
this week! Come hear me give the '90s baby perspective on "Move Along" vs. "Ocean Avenue" while
@ShadowTodd
tries desperately to keep
@AlinaIsYou
interested
So now that I'm back to work and long commutes again, I'm catching up on
@SongVsSongPod
. Part of this was... well, listening to "My Humps" in full. I was well aware of what the song was, I had heard bits of it before, but never the whole thing. And now it's EATING MY BRAIN
@michaelharriot
@realDonaldTrump
As a government employee, if I had had that much debt I would have been disqualified from my position before I was ever hired. That was actually in the job description
@ShadowTodd
By the halfway point I was totally exhausted just *listening* to it, let alone watching it. Struggling to catch my breath sitting in my chair watching a video
Like, when he had me listen to American Life, Cut the Crap, Summer in Paradise, the lead single from Van Halen III, those were all singularly miserable experiences, but none of them felt nearly as bad during the review because of the editing and narration
@ShadowTodd
Did they forget they were making a movie? You know, a feature film? Because what I just watched certainly felt like I was watching a PSA in between cartoons and not a goddamn movie
But even those couldn't lessen the sting of Funstyle. I'm so grateful he didn't ask me to give it a listen beforehand because jesus fuck he would not be getting a Christmas gift this year
One of my favorite things I found in my Metallica research is Lars originally trying to be a flashy drummer, but coming to appreciate/emulate Charlie Watts's no-frills-no-bullshit approach. "I used to think that stuff was easy but it's not, it's hard. It's fucking hard."
New episode!
@TFWaffleman
makes his second straight appearance (he begged us) so that we can argue "Easy Lover" vs. "Maneater." Watch out boy, she'll take your heart but you won't feel it!
@AcaciaMunson
said afterward she was worried for him, like having to deal with this radioactive toxic waste of an album would have severe permanent effects on his health (and possibly his career)
My experience:
>this beat rules, is a genius actually
>okay, a mad genius
>okay, an *evil* mad genius
>is he actually a fucking moron, why is this song LIKE THIS
>??????????
>am I just too dumb to understand the secret brilliance of "My Humps"???
>no
New ep! We welcome
@TFWaffleman
back, and see which king rock band of Vegas has the better jealousy anthem of 2005,
@thekillers
' "Mr. Brightside" or
@PanicAtTheDisco
's "I Write Sins Not Tragedies"!

I love this card's design. I understand the reasoning behind wanting it to be Eternal, but I think "no more subgames in Eternal" is just a good philosophy. If there had been a different way to template it, I would have pushed that to remove the subgame barrier.
This was a fun episode! Very light and fluffy. I'm apparently the go-to guest for early '00s pop-rock, which I do not mind at all. Can't wait for them to pull the rug out from under me one day when they call me in for a Pink Floyd episode
@SongVsSongPod
@ShadowTodd
Man, I just realized I forgot to plug my own podcast on the episode. Go listen to
@JoestarAllstars
if you like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and would like to hear my voice again. I also get to talk about popular music over there!
@ShadowTodd
I listened to the audiobook read by the guy who played Dexter, and let me tell you, that was a harrowing experience. Well worth it, but really pushing the limits, especially with the way it ends.
@ShadowTodd
Blurred Lines is the ultimate verge trainwreckord, right? I just woke up with this thought in my head (mostly because I am always thinking about Paula, the album)
In
@ShadowTodd
and
@DanyOrdinary
's latest Song Vs. Song podcast, they mention that 1984 was a HUGE year for pop culture. What other years stand out to you as massive pop culture years?
@ShadowTodd
If the ask is "you have just one song to describe Cake to someone", you go with Short Skirt/Long Jacket. But if the ask is "which Cake sing has had the most enduring impact", that's definitely The Distance.
@LCSOfficial
@esports_kobe
While watching this I said "And the faithful shall be rewarded" out loud like 3 seconds before Kobe started talking and it felt so goddamn good
@SongVsSongPod
Sting is one of the best parts of "Money for Nothing"
Jack White is one of the best parts of "Danger! High Voltage"
Stevie Nicks is one of the best parts of "Little Lies"
John McCrea is one of the best parts of "Fred Jones Pt. 2"
I'm glad
@DanyOrdinary
kind of nails this feeling by wondering aloud whether the song is dada, some kind of absurdist surreal abstract art. That review
@ShadowTodd
mentions of 10/10 beat with 0/10 lyrics is also SPOT ON. The absolute brain-melting duality of "My Humps"
@carlgoodtoseeu1
@lsv
If you want a more specific idea of how insane it is, the parry input has a 1/15-of-a-second window per hit, and he has to parry every single hit of the super or he dies (even if he just blocks).
@michaelharriot
As someone who has to drive through Windsor regularly, I can tell you that speed traps are the
#1
source of revenue for like seven towns along US 460
Like, if Paula is the telephone pole with Robin Thicke's car-eer wrapped around it, Blurred Lines is definitely the massive patch of black ice 200 yards ahead of it that started the out-of-control fishtailing
Lookin' for more votes in the Song vs. Song poll! We are doing "Maneater" vs. "Easy Lover" so vote now in the eternal Phil Collins vs. Hall & Oates debate
I was gonna go to bed
But then baby cried
I was gonna wake up feeling refreshed
But that baby cried
Now I can hardly open my two eyes
Because baby cried
Because baby cried
Because baby criiiied

@AlinaIsYou
Running with Scissors has the best suite of parodies, while Alpocalypse has the best originals/style parodies. I'm not sure which is the more consistent overall, but I'm leaning toward Alpocalypse
@Marshall_LR
What's your sweet spot on this? 6 mana to make 2.5 treasures, ping your opponent for 1.5 and draw 1.5 cards (assuming you have a decent density of UR gold cards)? I'm not sold that's good enough. How much do you have to spend to be happy here?
