Bullish on proof of work since day one! A company hired a candidate from us last week; wants more
Matchmaking is very close to my heart, both from challenge + impact perspectives.
Great teams build great products, and we're here to empower founders to do just that.

Last month, Unacademy hired 5 folks from us. They came back to hire more this Saturday and just released another offer. Just as renewal is a good metric to figure out PMF for a SaaS product, coming back to hire more folks is one of ours. ๐
Just had a call.
- Electronics student.
- 2020 graduate, not placed, stressed.
- Started coding seriously with camp in Nov, 2020
Gets an offer from Unacademy today. Big fat offer that would put even CSE engineers in awe.
This kidโs life has changed. ๐
So yes, this is happening! We're fixing tech hiring at scale

Lots of stuff planned for 2021, with the north star being placing 100+ folks. I'm delighted to share that we just got our 4th offer of the year! ๐
A testing job gives you a solid understanding of UX, which is quite helpful for a transition to a frontend dev or design role.
Some of the best candidates I interview for
@roc8HQ
have a testing background.
Today marks day 1000 from when I consciously made a decision to read more. It went pretty well; I've read 100+ books since then. It's my second-best habit after journaling as of today. Feel free to AMA.
Are you a PM Aspirant?
ANY person, who wants to seriously be a PM, and is willing to put in 5-10 hours a week for at least 6 months is welcome.
No prior experience in dev / design / marketing required. RT for reach.

So in addition to the new JD format (launching soon), we're also experimenting with a next-gen resume format that helps you self-reflect. Drop a ๐ if you'd like to try it out.
A friend (not active here) came out tonight. His family doesn't know yet. He wants to explore his sexuality and be sure before telling them.
We talked for hours. He mentioned the acceptance stage started when another friend came out to him sometime back. We need more safe spaces.

Just talked to someone who's fed up with things and doesn't want to work anymore. They are 22!
Please don't rush things. Have fun along the way. There's enough time for everything.
If you feel FOMO, quit Twitter cold turkey for a month and you'll realize life's beautiful.
Realized a bunch of my character flaws. I thought I have reached the version I want to be forever but no. Back to square one. Drained mentally and emotionally. I need to change right now. Rediscover myself. Adulting is hard. It's humbling. Existential crisis, hello again!
A college dropout, got into tech at 27, currently with 2 YoE in frontend, makes 11 LPA, tech social media made them believe that they are lagging behind ๐
Told them they are in the top 1%.
Comparison is the thief of joy. There will ALWAYS be someone else earning more than you.
Recently, I put out a hiring post for a generalist role. The application form had a question why do you want to join
@roc8HQ
? Reading the answers reminded me of what recruiters go through on a daily basis. Sharing my feedback on some applications along with my first impressions:
Not many know this but
@roc8HQ
is in the business of providing emotional support. Everything else is secondary. The journey of getting your first good tech job is stressful.

Walking has proved to be consistently meditative for me. Today I started walking without any agenda and within 2 hours, I got crystal-clear about something I've been trying to crack for years now. Expect a big announcement soon!
People set goals too high and then get disappointed. We should encourage setting small goals and keeping promises to ourselves. Setting the right goal is half the battle won. A minimum viable goal (MVG) is the smallest goal that you have yet to achieve:
Devs: "I don't want to build the same old clones. โน๏ธ"
PMs: "I have an idea but can't make it myself. ๐"

I get my kick from expanding my comfort zone. After realizing this, I started designing my life around it.
I do regular reflections on my learning journey, specifically on whether I'm facing my fears or running from them.
A close friend is looking for a website developer who is also a designer to help redesign and deploy a static website for a health-tech startup.

Timeline: 2-3 weeks which will include brainstorming sessions, getting client approvals, etc.

The college experience is hard to replicate online. Played around with the current version of the

metaversity today and it presents a marked improvement over how current CBCs are run! Lessons in parks, strolling with friends around a lake, the possibilities are endless.
Belief is magical.
People are capable of amazing things if you believe in them. The easiest way to make a difference in someone's life is to genuinely believe in them and show it. Applies to peers, friends, relatives, you name it. All it takes is telling someone "You can do it".
Avoid EMIs. Talked to a smart person today and they are pretty much stuck in a trap as they can't leave the job they're in and don't have the time to explore other options. ๐ฅฒ
Hiring Tip: Have a /tech page where you talk about the engineering challenges your teams are working on, why you chose your current tech stack, release cycles, etc.
Numbers like the scale (requests per second), traffic growth, API latency, etc. are very attractive to developers.

A cohort curriculum is an ever-evolving organism. We started with a series of daily 10pm chitchats at
@roc8HQ

We have a reading hour tomorrow at 5pm IST hosted by
@herkuch

63 people have registered for our first monthly reading challenge and committed to reading one book in January.
If you're one of them, share a pic! ICYMI, here you go:

Thinking of focusing on content now. What questions/topics would you like us to cover in the hiring scene?
Yes, I take time to mentally prepare myself before meetings. Yes, I take time to recharge myself after a conversation. But no, I don't feel bad about it. That's just how I'm wired.

is building the future of hiring. Itโs time for JDs to be redefined!
Here's a soft launch of our public job board with detailed and transparent JDs: ๐
If you'd like to add your JD here, fill in the template JD at the bottom and send it over.

They: Let's add unlimited vacation.
Me: That's a scam.
T: We mean it.
M: Are you okay w/ them taking 364 leaves in a year?
T: No
M: So there's an upper cap?
T: Yes
M: Let's avoid this dark pattern & add mandatory leaves.
You shouldn't be sorry for things not under your control. It took me a lot of time to accept it. It finally happened after reading the book Quiet by Susan Cain. Now I'm a proud introvert.
Thought experiment:
We have a dense talent pool at

What pros / cons do you see if we put up a p2p credentialing system in place?
