This weekend has been a bit of a whirl with both
#LudoNarraCon
and the
@CitizenSleeper
launch. Finally catching my breath and getting to process how successful both have been.
Citizen Sleeper in particular, has been the biggest day one launch for us in our history
I know it's been a crazy time for new releases but if any other journalists wanted to review the joint second best game of the year (or 35th best PC Game of all time if you prefer) that would be neat

That makes it the joint-second best reviewed game of the year, as things stand.

What's wild to me is that both 1000xResist and Times & Galaxy are inspired by Mass Effect and specifically taking elements of what the game did but without combat. We're publishing both, one month apart and the two experiences are so wildly different.

Excited to share that I've been appointed to the Board at ACMI!
I've been a huge fan of ACMI for 20 years. It's a unique institution that does truly remarkable work and I'm looking forward to being part of their journey.
It's wild but it feels like this week is so crowded with great games that it's crossed the event horizon and turned into a good thing where everyone is talking about them and wants to buy. I'm so glad we launched this week than moved to last week or next week to avoid the crush.

Paradise Killer is getting real close to the benchmark for being overwhelmingly positive on Steam. If you bought it on Steam and dug it but haven't left a review yet...
It will be a huge loss to games in general and weird, original indie games in particular if the Waypoint crew don't land somewhere or find a way to keep this going independently.
Truly one of the only places with a big audience treating indie games at the same level as AAA games
You might have already heard, but VICE is shutting down Waypoint. The crew will be around until June 2nd to record a few podcasts and stream a few streams and find a few five-star runtimes, but soon, the Waypoint project is over. You were the best audience we could've asked for.
Around 3.200 viewers for the panels at LudoNarraCon right now. Expecting this to climb as we're mostly seeing European traffic to the event page right now.
Interestingly 1/3 are watching via the broadcast page and 2/3 via the event page.

The one complaint we hear from everyone about 1000xResist is navigating the orchard but balancing reducing friction whilst encouraging exploration was a big challenge. Sunset Visitor really nailed it with this map...
Holding back the reveal of gameplay has been so hard when we've known how great the new systems are in Citizen Sleeper 2.

I feel badly for events companies and organisers and the position they're in but the sad reality is that all major cons will almost certainly be off until there's a vaccine. As an industry we should be focused on how we operate without physical conventions for 12-18months
Not sure if they're reverting the rights to the dev but if you're an indie dev signing with a publisher, make sure the contract includes a clause that says the rights revert to you if they don't distribute the game or if they stop distributing it.
WarnerBros Discovery have informed me they will be 'retiring' my game Small Radios Big Televisions from both Steam and PS4 stores.
