💪🧠 Strength training is shown be the most efficient method to improve functional outcomes in chronic stroke patients
How many patients would have been told they have no therapy needs at 1-5 years post stroke...but there is always an exercise need

The ability to get up & down from the floor without using your hands is an accurate indicator of longevity.
The more ways you can do this the greater your predicted longevity is.

Minimal-Dose Resistance Training for Improving Muscle Mass, Strength, and Function: A Narrative Review of Current Evidence and Practical Considerations
"This is Pamela. Pamela is 90 years old, she lives by herself and one of her favourite things to do is look after her garden, it’s getting harder for her as she gets older so her daughter Lynne asked me to go and teach her CrossFit:
The body deconditions at a faster rate from age 45 with physical inactivity.
Strength training slows down these effects & reduces the risk of disease & disability in later life!
This reduces health care costs & prolongs independence & quality of life!

Preventing sarcopenia is now viewed as a top public health priority & with an ageing population it has individual & economic consequences in excess of the obesity crisis.
It is something everyone should be discussing in practice to improve health longevity & clinical outcomes
When designing strength training programmes for older adults we have to be aware of biopsychosocial factors as well as the influence of different body systems or comorbidities.
Individual goals, beliefs & cultural heritage all need to be considered!
