Not sure how hard some private schools have tried to find savings. Over 10 years, private day fees increased annually by 14% above inflation while state schools saw real terms cuts. Real terms gap between state & private funding increased from 40% to 90%. (Source - IFS)

Another sign that respect for international law & the authority of international organisations is back to the fore in UK foreign policy. The ICJ, the UN's maritime tribunal & UNGA all called for this. Let's hope UK respect for international law is consistently applied from now on

I was impressed with James Cleverly's speech, especially channeling Jürgen Klopp's embrace of being normal. It's the nature of the job that politicians can never really be normal but after the last decade the Tories aiming for it seems the right project for them. So he won't win.

One of the key lessons learnt the hard way by MPs in the 2009 expenses scandal was that you can play by the official rules of declaration & still fail the taste test in the court of public opinion. It is striking that only 62 MPs out of the current 650 were MPs at that time.

I read this beautifully-written book by @Knox_Harrington in 2 days. It’s the story of the Klopp years at @LFC , on & off the pitch, meticulously told in key games & defining moments. But it’s also a wonderful ode to the values, solidarity & joy Klopp’s success embodied & inspired.
