Two Zimbabweans in the Olympic 200m final! Maka Charamba and Tapiwa Makarawu both finished third in their semi-finals and took the two non-automatic qualifying spots. Brian Dzingai in 2008 200m was the only Zimbabwean to make an Olympic sprint final up to now.

A fabulous one-run win for Zimbabwe over Pakistan in a thriller in Super 12 stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia. Zimbabwe bowling well to defend 130, with Sikandar Raza taking three wickets. It went down to the final ball, a first-ever Super 12 win for the Chevrons!

Zimbabwean sprint legend Artwell Mandaza has died at 73. In 1970 he ran 100m in 9.9 secs and became first black Sportsperson of Year. Missed out on 1972 Olympics with Rhodesia banned, Famously raced against a horse at Borrowdale. Sadly, financial hardships marked his final years.

Great effort from Zimbabwe’s Donata Katai to win her heat in 100m backstroke in Tokyo, though not fast enough to reach the semis. She swam a personal best of 1.02:73 but was 34th fastest overall of 41 swimmers, with the top 16 going to the semis. She'll be back in 2024 hopefully!

A great fighting performance from Zimbabwe to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with African champions Algeria. The Warriors totally deserved the point, if not all three. If they play like this in the remaining two qualifiers, they should be heading to the finals!

Good going for Zimbabwe in the cricket, beating Sri Lanka by 22 runs in Pallakelle. Craig Ervine hit 91 as the Chevrons made 302/8 and Tendai Chatara and Blessing Muzarabani took 3 wickets each. It's 1-1 in the 3-game ODI series.

A great win for Zimbabwe in their opener at the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, beating Ireland by 31 runs. Sikandar Raza hit 82 as Chevrons made 174/7. A great chance of reaching the Super 12 stage for the first time – a win over West Indies on Wed or Scotland on Friday will do.

Former Warriors, Man City, Portsmouth, Blackburn and Auxerre forward Benjani Mwaruwari has been appointed assistant coach of the Zimbabwe national team ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Benjani completed his Uefa A coaching licence last month.

Isaac Mpofu has absolutely smashed the Zimbabwe national record for the Men's Marathon as he finished 10th at the World Championships. His time of 2 hours 7 mins 57 sec takes nearly 2 minutes off Cuthbert Nyasango's 2 hours 9 mins 52.

We have a professional footballer in the family! Dakarai Mafico has signed a pro contract with Championship side Cardiff City. He’s been with them from Under-7 level. Dakarai is 17, parents are from Zim, he’s the son of our niece, born in Wales and has played for Wales Under-19.

It came too late, but a big performance at #AFCON2021 for Zimbabwe, beating Guinea 2-1. The already-eliminated Warriors held off second-half pressure for a deserved win, Musona and Mahachi scoring. Guinea ranked 15th in Africa, Zimbabwe 31st. Well done to the Warriors!

The Warriors on this chartered plane as they left for Blantyre for friendly against Malawi tomorrow. Trained this morning, Nakamba and Billiat are there, late additions were Tafadzwa Rusike, Evans Rusike, Dennis Dauda and Divine Lunga. First game for new coach Zdravko Logarusic.
