What a superstar of a son I have! Drove me to @Bempton_Cliffs & pushed me up to JubileeCorner where we got scope views of #BlackbrowedAlbatross sat on sea. After a short while the majestic bird got up and flew behind the cliffs before heading straight past us at eye level! 🤩

The #BlackburnianWarbler is one of the few birds named after a woman. Anna Blackburne (1726-1793) was an English naturalist. Her scientific skills were so well respected that people sent her specimens from around the world. Philipp Ludwig Statius Müller named it in her honour.

Controlled this #WillowWarbler with my great pal @colinjones77 last Thurs @hilbrebirdobs … remarkably it had travelled 323km in just over a day (well probably overnight!) from @PortlandBirdObs … it only weighs just over 8g! It had managed to put on 0.1g since ringed. #migration

The #YellowbrowedWarbler showed well occasionally in sycamores @hilbrebirdobs this afternoon - our earliest ever! Love em ❤️ proper autumn birding at last 🍂
