1) We need to talk about the way doomism is being used by certain climate scientists as a pejorative term for many climate activists. It's necessary to discuss this, because post COP26 this term is being widely abused and used against anyone questioning the efficacy of COP talks.

In other words, we have a society, where powerful and wealthy people controlling our societies, and exploiting everyone else for their own ends, are preventing necessary action, to protect their own interests. 11/

The fact, that the judge described the views of the @JustStop_Oil activists as "political", demonstrates, that it is the judge who has political views about the climate crisis, not the activists. The activists' views are based on scientific evidence, not politics. 1/🧵

Read this from Private Eye about the Just Stop Oil sentences. The justice system in this country is a farce.

Last night, I blocked possibly hundreds of climate crisis deniers, under a Greta Thunberg tweet - just her regular Friday protest with a photo. The personal abuse was incredible. You have to remember, I've already blocked many thousands of these abusive right wing idiots. 1/6

The reason I am picking on Lomborg, despite this meme being widespread, is because he is intelligent enough, and informed enough, to fully understand why he is being disingenuous, and why his argument is false, and propaganda of the most dishonest type. 2/

1) Regardless of the outcome of the US elections, we need to have a hard deep think about what democracy means. We have developed a form of democracy, which allows rich liars to get power by force of lies and creating fear and hatred.

I want to illustrate how the mainstream media, here the BBC, slyly smeared @GretaThunberg In this news report yesterday, they claimed Greta had said "slay", which of course, in English, means to kill. 1/🧵

Also, the article was not saying that humanity was going to end in 5 years, as the ridiculous lying climate crisis deniers pretend to believe. It was actually saying, we had 5 years to make big reductions in emissions, before it was too late to stop long term damage. 14/

Solving the climate and ecological crisis, is not really about doing anything. It is far more about not doing things. Not over-consuming resources, being more frugal. Learning to be kind and compassionate, part of which means not being so selfish. 1/2

It is my belief, confirmed by evidence, that the climate crisis, or rather the reason for it, is far simpler than most imagine. As I've often said, the climate crisis (really an overall ecological crisis) is different than anthropogenic climate change, if related to it. 1/🧵

I want to commend @GeorgeMonbiot 's article, and it is a must read. It says something quite profound about our governance system, when dark money funded right wing think tanks, can essentially get their policy written into law, without the public ever been aware of it. 1/🧵

In the UK and around the world, environmental defenders are being attacked with ever more extreme laws. Who designs these laws? Corporate lobbyists. Who demands they are imposed? The billionaire media. THIS IS NOT JUSTICE. This week's column. 🧵

What's so worrying, is that these people are quite literally not only driving the climate and ecological crisis, but are blocking action, on preventing this turning into a global catastrophe. This says these people are bad actors. 3/

The climate crisis is beyond absurd. As I keep pointing out, the climate crisis is not another term for anthropogenic climate change. Rather the crisis, is caused by our governments saying they accept the science, and then doing nothing. 1/10

The biggest failing of COP26, was the complete failure to recognise the climate and ecological crisis as the crisis it is, and the complete failure to openly acknowledge that current plans put our societies on a catastrophic course. @GretaThunberg @GeorgeMonbiot @ClimateHuman

This argument, falls at the first hurdle, because even if Greta had erred, this is totally irrelevant and makes zero difference to the reality of climate change and the science behind it. This is because no science rests on what Greta says. So the whole argument is invalid. 5/

I just want to write a quick thread about the absurdity of climate change denial. Where usually right wing ideologues, deny the reality of climate change, because it doesn't fit in with their ideological outlook. It is absurd, and irrational. 1/🧵

Let me make a very simple observation on the UK Government's new prison overcrowding strategy. STOP LOCKING UP PEACEFUL CLIMATE ACTIVISTS, AND REPEAL THE STUPID OPPRESSIVE, NEW LAWS AND COURT STRATEGIES, SENDING THEM TO PRISON! 1/3

This inability to acknowledge, that it is going to get much worse, and keep getting worse, that much is unknown, except it being far more adverse for us, can't be a limitation of language, because I have just said it. It's deliberate #gaslighting 3/

Listening to the commentary of media pundits on COP26, makes me realise just how few people really grasp the climate and ecological crisis and the components of it.
