On this day in 1836, the Texian army led by General Houston defeated the Mexican army of Santa Anna. It was less than two months after the massacre at the Alamo & Santa Anna was sure the Texas army would be in hiding, but we can see how wrong he was. Never underestimate Texans!

A new 1,200-megawatt natural gas power plant is being added to the Texas power grid right here in House District 17. That is enough to power the equivalent of 800,000 homes. The Texas power grid continues to get stronger, and HD17 is proud to lead the way!

I co-authored and passed HB 900 to address concerns raised by parents who found sexually explicit materials and pornographic content in their children's school libraries. It is unfortunate we even needed to pass this law, but we WILL protect Texas children.
