Truly a team effort involving every single colleague who works in St Roch's as well as tremendous commitment & effort from families and pupils themselves. Thanks to everyone involved in this colossal effort.
Spent several periods today walking around the school - covered every subject, most teachers and many pupils. Struck by how overwhelmingly strong relationships are in the school and how this contributes to effective learning and teaching. Very lucky to have such a lovely school.
Congratulations to Dr Gerry Hughes, former Deaf teacher at St Rochโs, on the launch of his book โBridging Our Differencesโ. Remarkable story of how Gerry overcame communication / literacy barriers to become the first Deaf person to sail solo around the world. Now, heโs an author.
Todayโs afternoon session of the Scottish Parliament was opened by our headteacher Mr Stone who was invited to lead the parliament through the Time for Reflection. The focus was on Holocaust Awareness Day and the work of

Weโll put out some facts this week that show how St Rochโs is thriving. Did you know that we have the largest Secondary age Deaf provision in Scotland? We have pupils travelling here from all over the central belt. Two pupils travel to St Rochโs every day from Dundee.
Goodbye and good luck to our amazing S6 of 2022! What a wonderful group of young people - a credit to their school, their families and themselves!

Morning to you all. Todayโs Sign of the Day is โHow are you?โ. Start with fingers touching your breastbone and moving forward to a thumbs up. Raise your eyebrows as itโs a question.

Been a pleasure and a privilege to work with these boys since they were age 2 at St Vincentโs School for the Deaf until they leave at the end of S6 as 18 year old St Rochโs pupils. Sad to see them go and will miss them (TD).
Best of luck to our Deaf leavers who graduated today and said goodbye to the staff and friends who worked so closely with them. Going on to college and one is going onto the

Sad to see so many of our amazing Seniors leaving today - a fantastic year group full of fun, kindness and warmth. They were a great example for younger pupils.
So delighted to announce that I have been selected as a member for BSL Advisory Board for BSL Act 2022. I am so honoured to be chosen to represent Scotlandโs Deaf community & Deaf young people. Excited & ready for the new chapter.

I was back in
@St_Rochs
for the retirement mass of my old teacher- Frank Delury. He is the embodiment of the schools motto โAlios Adiuvaโ (Help Others). Even when I had left 8 years, he still showed me the care and commitment he did when I was a pupil. A truly great man.

Delighted that Mrs McKellar has had this recognition for the outstanding contribution that she has made to our school and the lives of many young people during the course of her career. On behalf of all of our school community, well done! Thoroughly deserved
@EducationScot
Miss Young and Miss McLean are organising a Pop-Up Prom Shop for pupils to pick an outfit if getting something new isnโt possible. Any suits, dresses, parts of an outfit or accessories such as shoes, ties, bags, etc. would be ideal and can be handed in to the school office.
Although all learning will be happening at home, St Roch's is a community of support. If any of our young people or families are struggling, please contact the school. Also, please keep us informed of any major changes which occur in our young peopleโs lives.

Term officially ends today. I would like to convey my wishes that you and your families have a restful Easter, which will be the most unusual Easter ever. Stay home, stay safe and keep well. We'll be in touch again on Monday 20 April.
New Govt guidance about face coverings in schools comes into effect tomorrow. Remember to wear one as you move around the school in corridors and social areas to help keep everyone safe.
Such a special assembly for our deaf pupils. Proud to have Mr Tumaini Ngajilo who has travelled all the way from Pomerini School in Tanzania to spend the week at St Rochโs. Our pupils were so inspired.
Best thing was that one of our S6 deaf pupils, Jacob, was organising the game. I commented that it was great that he was leading things. He replied โyeah, I want everyone to be included.
