Happy St George's Day ~ This 14th century statue of St George is one of the few remaining statues wearing authentic armour worn in battle at the time, such as its bascinet and wasp-waisted detail. It was missing for many years until it was found in a heap of rubble. #StGeorgesDay

An exciting discovery in 1872 👀... ~ In 1872, fragments of the demolished shrines of Alban and Amphibalus were discovered when partition walls were taken down. They were painstakingly reassembled here in the south transept. 📷 Cathedral archive #WeekendWisdom
