He-Man is not the holy grail of animation...but it's not trying to be. It's a fun, earnest adventure show that doesn't try to be sardonic and act above itself like a lot of modern animated shows. It's authentic in its tone (whilst still being funny), and that's why it's praised.

Tbh I think a lot of 80s cartoons are very overrated. He-Man for example comes up a lot as this holy grail of animation... and then you watch it and there's just not much to it. Same with Thundercats. It's just nostalgia for the most part imo. A product of their time I suppose.

Let me use an SW analogy to describe my issue with the shaming/ostracising tactics employed by parts of the left. Anakin felt scorned and disliked by the Jedi, and Palpatine played upon that to convert him to the Sith. Palpatine is obviously evil, but the Jedi failed Anakin too.
