Tim and Rob showing how brilliant they both are again. They make this stuff seem effortless.
No-one else but Martin could ever write anything like this. The boy is a one-off.

'From the Bench at Belvidere' is a companion piece to this song. Inextricably linked. It’s an incredible feeling to have your friendship written about. Thanks Martin. Love you.

Back in 1995, the Reading festival was getting underway on this day. What an amazing lineup that was too. I still have the 3 CD set!
You can only see one band per day, who you off to see?
Friday - Smashing Pumpkins
Saturday - Foo Fighters
Sunday - Soundgarden
Happy Birthday to C'Mon Kids, the fifth studio album by
@theboo_radleys
released on this day in 1996
In at number 20 in the UK album chart, it included the singles What's In The Box? (See Whatcha Got), C'Mon Kids & Ride The Tiger.
I love that “Oh Brother” is a song that isn’t available anywhere else but the HELP album. It makes it really special.

I can still remember how to sing “Boo be with you” backwards. Stop me on the street and ask me.
I think this was recorded before we learned to adjust the key for my voice. It’s really low.

Thank you so much to everybody who came to our Giant Steps gigs over the last two weeks. Every single show was incredible. We felt honoured and humbled by the love we felt. An experience I will never forget.
Upon 9th And Fairchild.
I love that line - “Jesus, this room’s so cold.” Reminds me of the Toxteth flat me, Martin and our mate Karl lived in.
Tim and Rob are the best rhythm section around. Still.

I’ve Lost the Reason.
When we played this live, it had to be the last song because it would completely shred my throat. Then I would get drunk and shout some more. Seriously. Idiot.

Happy Birthday Kingsize.
Sadly, we never got to play you live, but me and Martin had a go at some of your songs acoustically in Denmark in 1998. You can hear it here... some class bants going off too.

Primal Scream and The Boo Radleys. 1990. I think we begged the owner Doreen to let us support them as we were big fans. There were about 30-40 people there, I think...

63 years ago today, a novel written by this lady was published. 30 years after that, a burgeoning band from the other side of the world decided to name their group after one of her characters.
I remember the mad scramble to get the track mixed and finished before the deadline.
It was such a great idea to have it recorded and out within a week. Wish we could have done that with all our songs.

Martin made this card for me, I think on my 18th birthday. Dear God, the sleeve of that overcoat. It was marinated in Mild (my drink of choice) and ciggy ash and was solid as a board.
Thinking of Ways.
This is beautiful. I’d forgotten how delicate it is. Giles Hall - and his counterpart Wendy Wilkinson - this album belongs to them as much as us. They’re in the ‘Wish I was Skinny’ video.

I always loved The Leadmill.
@theboo_radleys
seemed to have really good gigs there. I once almost got beaten up by a bouncer for playing footy with an empty red stripe can and

after a show.

came to the rescue.

This is a poster for the release of the Kaleidoscope EP. Sometimes I forget we've been on Rough Trade and Creation... any other bands been on both labels, I wonder?
We met Cynthia Lennon at an Irish television show in 95. The polaroid of it is knackered because we kept it in our pockets and brought it out to show people every five minutes. She was friendly, thoughtful, and a little world-weary. I liked her a lot.

So before I do the Boos tour in June, I'm going to be doing this... I'll be singing Boo Radleys, solo songs, and be talking shit and chatting music, psychology, and whatever else funny comes to mind. Tickets are leaking on sale as I type...
This thunderous look on my face was actually fear -because the photographer
@derekridgers
had taken us (probably intentionally) to one of the roughest parts of Chicago for a photoshoot. Taxis wouldn't even go there...
The Boo bird's body was actually fashioned from this lady's legs. We got nicked by the police putting these posters up in Liverpool. My bad. That's what you get one you put the really short-sighted lad on lookout duties.
This was at Arcachon in France. Eating one of those platters where they basically drag the bottom on the sea and put it on ice. It was disgusting. Especially the giant sea snail. Drank a whole bottle of Rose wine to wash it down... then went swimming in the sea. In our clothes.
With the Giants Steps tour sadly getting smaller in the rear view mirror (we had a blast), our attention is turning to these dates which are now getting closer.
Tickets are here:
The back catalogue is our oyster, so what would you like to hear?
Spun Around.
I don’t like this. Soz. Think my singing ruined it. I was trying something that didn’t come off. There’s something depressing about it too - but maybe that’s just me.

Reading last night was incredible. Thank you so much to everybody that came and made it a memorable evening. The first time Giant Steps has been played live in its entirety.
Tonight is London - Islington the Garage. We’re playing two sets so get there early!
So, you've said what you want to hear, which means the set list for the tour will look like this...
BOO FOREVER
THE FINEST KISS
EVERYTHING'S ALRIGHT FOREVER (start to finish)
RIDE THE TIGER
MELTIN'S WORM
MELODIES FOR THE DEAF
BULLFROG GREEN
VOTE YOU
AIN'T GONNA BE NO NEXT TIME
Thank you to all the wonderful people who came to my one man show. Here's one of my favourite moments - when Mariah from

Happy releasaversary to "Giant Steps" from The Boo Radleys, released on this day in 1993.
A cracking record that really pushed the boundaries between genres, at a time when Brit-pop was sweeping the nation.
We recently had

Look what I found - in many ways this wasn't the best of tours. The 'mindfield' stage was most often a car park, and was often well away from the main event. Plus, we were often playing in 40 degree heat. In suits. But we did get to see Nick Cave everyday. Bonus.
I swear allegiance to every brave soul that stood out in the pouring rain yesterday at Kubix festival and watched us play for 45 sodden minutes. I salute you! X x

Am I right in thinking we won the Brat for best album that year? We certainly had one of those middle finger trophies that we gave to our tour manager at the time: Pete 'Blinky' Thompson. If you're out there Pete... send us a photo to confirm my memory...

Arrived in for tonight’s show. Brighton - you have officially sold the lowest amount of tickets for the tour! C’mon kids! - don’t do yourselves down… you don’t want Brighton to be in that bracket. Imma grab a pint. See you in a bit…

Just had a look at that Britpop doc from last night. Ha ha ha! "A bald guy like Sice could be a pop star". Weirdly concomitant to a section of my one-man-show! Come along and hear what I think.
