City of Cincinnati to close a number of streets and lanes near restaurants so they can expand their seating capacity in either the sidewalk or street as appropriate.

It has been my pleasure these past few days to hear such wonderful stories from so many of you about Brigid Kelly. She died this evening and like you, I can only think that it's way too soon for such a bright light to leave us.
$1.3 Billion: See the Paycor Stadium upgrade proposal here. This is not a DONE deal. It is a proposal only and a starting point for negotiations with the Bengals related to their lease, which ends in 2026.
Hamilton County Sheriff
@CharmMcGuffey
gave President Biden a not-yet-unveiled custom made sheriff’s officer commemorative 9/11 20th anniversary badge. “Then he reached in his pocket and gave me this,” she said.
“I was thrilled.” (It’s a presidential coin.)
End of day one of early voting at the Hamilton County Board of Elections. At 5 pm (and some votes could still trickle into the system) 3,051 people voted. Says BOE Director Sherry Poland: “It broke all records.”
It was brought to my attention that today is my 18-year anniversary with
@enquirer
. Thank you to all of you for following along. It's been a wild ride and I suspect it's only going to get wilder.
All I know is I spellchecked “Cincinnati” on my resume to
@Enquirer
roughly 64,000 times before I dropped it in the mail. It was 2002.

BREAKING: The Cincinnati Bengals’ stadium will be renamed Paycor Stadium. It still needs city & county approvals, but fans will begin to see the name as early as Friday’s pre-season game. Signage won’t go up just yet though.

One of my best friends was robbed a gunpoint in Pendelton yesterday afternoon. They escaped in her car & spent thousands on gift cards. Officers advised her to move. I’m so relieved she is OK. But is her having to move the answer?
Cincinnati
@ChiefEIsaac
asked every member of council to do a ride-a-long. He tells them: "See what our officers are faced with. We had an undercover officer shot at last night...there is an unprecedented level of violence on our community and on our officers."
Ohio
@GovMikeDeWine
was asked about criticism of Dr. Amy Acton. Here's what he had to say: "The buck stops with me" and any criticism of her is a "cheap shot."
From the lease, the Bengals would get the first $60.5 million and then 70% of the remaining revenue. The other 30% would go to Hamilton County. The calculation is based on an increase of 6% per year from a base $16.67M for the Bengals starting in 2000.
Chief Isaac on Kyle Plush: "We share in their heartbreak around this. Police officers, firefighters, even emergency personal, you get into this to help. Something went wrong here. We have to find out why we weren't able to provide this help."
The media did not report that three months prior to my phone being damaged, in May, I had already turned my phone over TWICE for the sought after data to be extracted by the City law department.

: "The activities we found to be the most frightening, the most scary...There were a number of white people in the crowd that were clearly engaged in coordinated activities."
I did not have streetcar expansion in my bingo card today, but here we are. ‘No longer afraid to talk about expansion': Council members consider new streetcar routes
Awesome moment in council today. Mayor
@AftabPureval
donned a puffy coat that has been
@VoteLandsman
’s signature style as he congratulated Landsman on his congressional win.
Pamela Smitherman, wife of Vice Mayor Christopher Smitherman died today after a long illness. They shared their love story with me in 2017 from which I learned many lessons. I’m thankful for that time with Pamela and my heart breaks for their loved ones and friends.
Brought a fan who couldn’t be here today. I know he’s somewhere watching & this means a lot to his family. Can we give him a like & a share?

First time I’ve seen something like this: Cincinnati AFL-CIO retracts endorsement of railroad sale. (If you know of another time, let me know.) Details:
My reflection on the past 8 years: I’m a better reporter and I love Cincinnati even more now that I cover it & have learned so much about its people & neighborhoods.
While I love awards, I don't write to win them. My coverage of City Hall corruption last year didn't win any major awards, but I'm proud of my work informing readers. When I write, I think about what citizens need to know. So thank you for reading and following along here.
You know what would help? Transparency. I have already asked city about Young and Dennard missing messages, with no answers. Who thinks the public deserves to know?
If you've ever taken a child here you know the amazing care they've gotten. Now the world will know. This will shine an international spotlight on our medical community. We are so,so lucky to live where we are short way away from world-class care.
Brigid Kelly started her political career in the city where she grew up, Norwood. She was a councilwoman there from 2006 to 2007, right after she graduated from Xavier. Tonight Norwood Council is honoring her with a resolution at its 7:30 p.m. meeting.
Landsman was choked up a bit to start: “When we started I knew it was a good fight. The right fight.
Democracy was at stake. I knew all of you would show up & you did.”
Do you want to know what's going on with the Bengals/Hilltop/music venue deal? Yeah, me to. But when I asked, I got 275 pages of redacted records that looked like this:
.
@JohnCranley
: “They were repeatedly saying just how astounding our fan base is and how incredibly successful FC has been. Commissioners mentioned that a couple of times.”
Vice Mayor
@voteSmitherman
on the motion asking 5 council members to pay their own legal bill. "The taxpayers of Cincinnati should not be responsible for this bill."
And this last thing: Sittenfeld said it’s a “weird & strange thing” that journalists rarely look at PAC contributions. I can assure him, that I do and will continue to do so. Sure it’s an extra step when the donation is in another name, but a little work never bothered me.
