Today is my brother Basant Sagar’s 35th birth anniversary. He was 15 when selected as a student astronaut by NASA, 18 when he received a full scholarship from MIT and in college when invited by President Bush and Obama. He inspired millions like me to dream. We lost him in 2017.

For millions of young people in South Asia, Horlicks WizKids was an extraordinary platform. It was truly the mother of all contests. In July 2008, I won the Regional Finals in Bihar and then went on to win the Sharpest WizKid title at the South Asian Finals. Have fond memories!

In 2009, when my mother passed away, we hired Aruna Di to cook for us. Her son was 5-yrs-old. We got him enrolled in the same school as us. He later became a #DexterityToCollege fellow. This year, Amarjeet is going to Atria University on a full scholarship of ₹35 lacs.

I lost my mother when I was in high school. I lost my elder brother one year out of college. He went to MIT on a full scholarship, was invited to meet two consecutive US presidents and once scored 106/100 at MIT. We lost him on this day in 2017. He remains an absolute role model.

My mother studied at a local village school. She sacrificed everything she could for my brother, my sister and I. While she didn’t live to see us graduate from MIT, Columbia or Harvard, SHE made it all possible. Mother passed away on Jul 14, 2009. I was still in high school then.

Last night was emotional. On Monday, my father had to be rushed to a hospital in Patna while I was here in Boston. By God’s grace, he was shifted from the ICU to a private ward yesterday. From there, he watched me live on Kaun Banega Crorepati (Who Wants to Be a Millionaire).

Today, Padma Vibhushan Dr. Mashelkar and I received honorary doctorates at @JECRCUniversity in Jaipur. I had tears in my eyes when the 82-yr-old legendary Indian icon said, “This is my 48th honorary doctorate. And, I haven’t heard a speech more inspiring than Sharad Sagar’s.”

When I started my undergraduate studies, I used my scholarship money to buy a laptop. It served me seamlessly for nearly a decade. I almost thought I would graduate Harvard with it next year but a long partnership has come to an end tonight. Thank you for your service, BigMac! :)

Last evening, on the 128th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Address, we hosted the “Beginning of the Semester” meeting for Dexterity to College fellows studying at top colleges across Asia, America & Europe. Collectively, they’re on more than 35 crores in scholarships.

It was this week, 9 yrs ago. I was a first-year student at Tufts who'd just made it to the finals of the $100,000 Entrepreneurship Challenge. I was young and nervous. Little did I know, I would go on to be the youngest 100k winner and the first to win it twice. #ThrowbackThursday

Three young leaders have been inducted as Regional Ambassadors of India to TUNZA Eco-Generation, a joint platform of UNEP & Samsung. Three out of three are from @DexterityGlobal — 15yr old Shreya from Bihar, 16yr old Vani from Uttar Pradesh and 18yr old Yashaswi from Karnataka.

Never Such Innocence 2021 invited teenagers to reflect on conflict. Rashi won the international competition with her entry on Ajijan Bai, a female freedom fighter from the Indian War of Independence of 1857. Rashi also received a letter from UK PM Boris Johnson. #ThisIsDexterity

जननी जन्मभूमिश्च स्वर्गादपि गरीयसी। Landed in the national capital around midnight, took prasad at Ramakrishna Mission Ashram early morning, met with our alumni and friends before flying to Patna in the afternoon and then took Dexterity weekly meetings from 5 to 10pm. I am back!

On the night of his DexSchool graduation, Darsh asked me to sign a cricket ball he had claimed 5 wickets with. This summer, Darsh received a call-up to play for a local club in England. On Saturday, in his debut game, Darsh wrote club history claiming 10 wickets! #ThisIsDexterity
