niece is going to her school dressed as a tomato to recite a poem on Lal Tamatar except she can't say tamatar so she calls it matatar throughout 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mom came in w a brownie she made, told me to guess a new ingredient she used. Me, after one quick sniff "rum?". My mother, kind of laughingly, "tum log to kutto ki tarah ek second me pehchan jate ho daru ko" 😂😂😂🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️lol
My dad updates his WhatsApp dp to something and then updates the 'about' i.e. Whatsapp status to match it ... Like rn it's a photo of his bike at one stop in the hills and the status is "Himachal!!" and this keeps changing in sync 😂😂😂😂❤️❤️

In a world where survival of the richest has been true for so long, on some days it completely breaks my spirit to see people doing good, being kind and trying to live in harmony (w others, nature) constantly endure the worst of any crisis. Obviously this is made worse by the fac
Walked into a cafe in Mcleodganj with Tibetan student I was helping with Eng practice & spotted Luke Dunphy from Modern Family with his mom and crew.Spoke to them for 5 whole minutes, took a photo, got called funny by his mom and promptly changed venue of the English session 🤣

the thing is that grief doesn't wait for collective anguish to die down. people remembering loved ones no more don't get to "take a break" from the madness. I wish saying sending strength actually did something. Nothing is enough. Yet trying is all we have. UGH.

You know how ppl r always taking about just how bad the environment scene in India is? Well, this map mrked out by
@avli_verma
shows just how bad things genuinely are. Varegaon village, a case in point : life surrounded by thermal power plants and ash ponds is abysmal.
It's over four years since I first visited the coal plants in Ennore and was shown this work of art... Yet it is the first one I share when any conversation about art and activism comes up... Forever grateful

today I miss egg puffs. At one point in life they were part of daily routine (Chennai days). I don't remember the last time I had an egg puff. That's all. 🙃
A story from our visit to Varegaon village in Maharashtra. While life surrounded by thermal power plants is already difficult, to say the least, proposed expansion of one of them only stands to make matters worse. I write for

Remember when Reliance's Sasan ash pond breached on Apr 10th mid lockdown despite repeated warnings nd left 6 people dead and 1000 acres of land flooded with ash slurry? We're exactly two months from that day and state of accountability is far from ideal.

is not just about advocating renewables. It's as much about reviewing 'desire' as being a direct result of fossil fuel powered industrial capitalism. It's about imagining far lesser & very different consumption of energy.

TW toxic relationships: PSA for anyone in a toxic relationship : if ur partner yells, manipulates and abuses u in *any* way even just once and then you feel guilty and then they apologise and make it seem like they only acted out bcuz xyz reasons, remember - GET THE FUCK OUT. NOW
Had exactly *one* drink after a couple of months and I woke up feeling sick. Is this it? Has 2020 also taken away my ability to wreck my body completely???
t that the ones hoarding wealth purely because of overt exploitation of people and the planet remain shielded. Hospital bills? No problem. Private getaway to escape madness? No problem. No conscience needed to carry on living the way they do? Never a fucking problem. Idk man. Idk
thinking about that one time i cried in a cafe (while having coffee alone) and this waitress finishing her shift stopped to ask me if I'm okay before leaving, i mouthed a 'yes' so she said "that's good", smiled and left. i hope she's happy and stuff 🐒
Sometimes when I sit in the balcony at night in Dharamshala, I hope there is a sudden powercut, just for a few minutes ... This weird urge to 'see' the night, as night, uninterrupted by orange lamps.
Wind power aka 'change the source but continue living (increasing consumption) as is' will not work . someone's always paying very heavy costs for mindless energy consumption ... This is part of what really needs to change
Protest by Bhil adivasis in Pratapgarh district, Rajasthan, against Wind Power projects that threaten their way of life. These ecological conflicts point to the symptomatic nature of climate interventions that are being paraded as solutions.

Third ash pond breach in less than 3 months that I'm reading about. We have a massive coal ash problem in India, and these breaches just reiterate that.
