No hockey games, not even scrimmages in practice but this is ok? There hasn’t been outbreak in hockey in BC with all the protocols but it gets shut down. This is insane. Let’s the kids play. With proper protocols it’s ludicrous not to let them play. Their mental health needs it

Goalie Parents: Do NOT pay to go to hockey camps. The reason is that they are a target and usually get worse because there is no pacing and shot after shot so get bad habits. That would be like me charging my shooters to shoot on goalies at my camps.

I get lots of questions constantly about spring hockey. I always tell them focus on a program that focuses on development and not taking trips to every expensive locale. I also encourage kids to play baseball, soccer and lacrosse. Great sports for cross training and eye/hand work

To all goalie parents/goalies. I’ve seen too many young goalies that are wearing gloves that are too big and stiff they can’t close. I miss the days of cross training where kids played baseball and learned how to catch. Buy a proper size and fitting glove that u can work in.

My suggestion to all @BCHockeyLeague @CSSHL @BCEHL please use two shot keepers for the goalies. You need one up top as well as in the box. EVERY game I’ve attended averages a min of 5 shots missed and one consistently misses on one of the goalies in the game around 10. As someone

Coaches: Here ismy biggest pet peeve. When a goalies stats gets put down incorrectly and they ask if you can change it DON’T call him selfish. These stats , GAA and SP% are goals and assists for goalies. Take it from a guy who’s been working with Major Jr, BCHL, CSSHL, BCEHL for

I say it every year and wish ALL minor hockey associations would get on board. Anyone who is an evaluator should have ZERO connection with any of the goalies they are evaluating. If they say they are unbiased they are a liar. It’s human nature to pick someone that you work with

1) I’ve never been more bombarded with calls this year for skates looking for goalies. At least 2-3 per day. My suggestion, do what I do for players at my camps and pay goalies to come out as it’s not a benefit for them to come out and be “targets” and get blistered with shot

Great scouting by Team Canada on Askarov. He holds glove really high, flexes wrist forward and elbow locked on body. This will not allow wrist to rotate and thus expose a hole above the pads.

I really wanna slap the Dane coach. Pull the poor kid FFS, it’s 10-0. Don’t ruin him, he’s actually a pretty good goalie but this has good chance to really affect confidence. Like many watching I’m yelling at tv to pull him.

In all my years working in the WHL and BCHL there was nothing worse than running practices after Christmas until the Jan 10 trade deadline. I always made sure to talk to players to keep spirits up and try and stay positive. Feel for a lot of nervous young men today till noon tmrw

The thing that bothers me about restrictions is is no talk of the mental health affects. I’m not saying be safe as I agree w that but there are solid protocols in place to monitor covid and keep economy and life going. I’m sad for athletes, biz owners and employees today affects.

On a side note, the scariest thing I hear from students is “we have (insert name) dad helping out at practices now, he used to play goal”. This is a recipe for disaster. The position evolves every year and if u have someone out there who isn’t up to date he’ll confuse the goalie

Everyone hates fighting in hockey huh? Was just at restaurant and the line brawl gets going and everyone cheering and the biggest roar was when the goalies went at it. Not a fan of the set up fights but organic scraps like EDM/CGY battle I still think are a staple of the game

I get this from some goalie parents. “Can u put my kid with that group as he’s not challenged”. First off, you should not need a challenge as you should always challenge yourself and ALWAYS that goalie is not even the best in that group he/she in. #minorhockeyproblems

I 100% agree with this statement. It is old school thinking to “keep the goalies guessing to stay hungry”. You have to prepare yourself properly mentally if you are a starter or backup for that game.

For those that are upset at what the Senators players said in the @Uber I can tell you as both from a player and a coach that this stuff is said daily on both sides and it changes from day to day. One day you can hate/love a player/coach and next hate. Uber needs to fire that guy

The best young man I’ve ever had shoot first me at my goalie sessions is Connor Bedard. I’ve seen him from a 13 yr old light up Jr, WHL and pro goalies. I’ve had a lot of great ones shoot (Barzal, RNH, Gallagher, Kane) but he’s the most talented I’ve ever seen and is very humble

Please let these kids play and finish out their season. A lot of those 18/19/20 yr old kids have put up to 15 years of blood, sweat and tears in hopes of getting an education or drafted. They had 3 months of no problems so give them a couple more months to finish off. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
