For Dragon, I had the job of AD'ing the artstyle + everything drawn by Chilli and Bingo. Originally Chilli's medium was going to be watercolour, so I took some inspo from Miyazaki's style of leaving white spaces.

Fun little #Bluey Dragon tidbit: I felt blessed to AD this ep. Yet again it was the inner horse girl’s time to shine. I learned to draw by obsessively copying the horses in this tome of horse breeds like a dutiful monk transcribing a holy book.

I'm passionate about horses because I love history, and the history of man is so tightly bound to the history of the horse. There have been centuries of craft and artistry surrounding horse riding. Just check out the coolness that is Pazyryk horse tack!

The last shot of Bluey: The Sign was a loooong time coming! It started ~9 months before the ep even began production! 🦋 In June of '21 Brisbane and Ludo Studio were blessed by a Brisbane classic: a gorgeous and firey sunset.

My biggest tack design tip is DO GOOD RESEARCH! So much of modern media is saturated with Thoroughbred & Friesian horses in modern English bridles because it was impractical for the tv show to be historically accurate. Look at museums! Look at ancient art! It's awesome!

oh I forgot to explicitly mention bit-less bridles/mechanical hackamores. These look similar to an English bridle, but cross under the jaw, or have a mechanical way of applying pressure. These specific ones are a relatively recent phenomenon at <100yo,
