There's a really interesting disconnect between casual fans and diehards. For a lot of casuals, the Capaldi era is where Doctor Who "stopped being good", or it had the season where they stopped watching for the first time. For diehards, it has THE 2 best stories of all time.

As much as I tolerate "It's Doctor Who!" as an excuse, it's probably not a good sign that we just chock up major faults with a climax as being a core part of the show's identity. That's a bad thing! You shouldn't be seeing narrative failures and thinking "Yep that's Doctor Who"!
