I was hurt today when a friend implied I was getting overpaid (& that I should consider a comms job in a HCOL city that paid $20k less) bc he was getting paid less than me for doing STEM work. I don’t agree that non-STEM jobs aren’t worth as much. We have valuable skills too!

@mhdksafa Wow, what an awesome question! I've lost so many things that meant a lot to me, but I'd prolly look for a diamond ring I was gifted by a relative. It was v expensive, and I feel terrible for having lost it! I can't think abt it or else I get paralyzed by the guilt.

There was The Phone. It had its own place and aura in the home. If you didn't have internet--and most homes did not during the entire '90s--the phone was the only non-postage way of reaching people if you couldn't travel to see them or didn't want to.

@jtrebach Controversial opinion: all medication is a band-aid. Solving the problem would require prevention, which is what we do in public health. Most doctors don’t care to understand that bc it would put them out of a lot of work.

@cmclymer My middle school Eng teacher, Ms. Turner, would not shut up about her crush, Troy Aikman. Every single class she'd mention him. He was playing for UCLA the same time she was a student there. (Go Bruins!) Eventually her students got her a life-size cutout of him for her classroom.
